About our home

The ultimate weekend escape with stunning views and peaceful surroundings perfect for outdoor activities in the very heart of the Finnish history with remains found from 700 b.c. Pay a visit to Raseborg Castle or Fagervik Manor nearby.
Experience your own cosy country home away from home, decorated by using Finnish and Scandinavian design such as Alvar Aalto, Marimekko, Iittala, Pentik, Hackman, Vallila, Fiskars, Eero Aarnio etc. to give you a true atmosphere.
Enjoy the garden and the solitude. Cook in the roomy kitchen and dine comfortably inside or outdoors. Sleep deeply because here quiet is a way of life.
With foundations from the 16th century and Raseborgs Castle nearby (10 min) this house is the perfect place for an outdoor-weekend. Two bicycles, 5-gears, and a picnic-set is at your disposal.
It's hard to believe that Helsinki is only 60 minutes away. The property provides privacy together with the possibility of exploring ancient culture sites and enjoying the forests and lakes nearby. You will probably spot elk and deer, and hear the sound of cranes in the morning. Since there is no light pollution in the village it is abfab for stargazing and catching the northern lights (aurora borealis) panorama which can be seen 3-10 times/year.
You can put fire in the kitchen iron stove or cuddle in front of the fireplace in the living room. Three more fireplaces can be used in other rooms in the house.

The house is originally from the 18th century (some parts from the 17th century), but has been adapted to modern times in an old fashion. For that reason, the house nowadays has all kitchen equipments such as electrical stove with oven, refrigerator, micro owen, nespresso and ordinary coffee machine, juice machine and a toaster at your disposal in the kitchen. There are two bathrooms with showers and a toilet plus bath tub upstairs and one toilet downstairs.

The farm has a beautiful courtyard. It is a great environment for both children and adults, with a lot of space and many things to discover. In the garden, you will also be able to pick apples from over 50 year old apple trees, and there are a lot of other fruit and berry trees / bushes. You will also have a BBQ and garden furniture at your disposal. The surrounding forests are perfect for picking berries such as blueberrys and lingonberrys and for foraging mushrooms.

Neighbourhood

Ekenäs Old Town with its wooden houses spreads out to the seashore. The street names tell the story of the life of the townspeople and how they got along hundreds of years ago. Here, the streets have stayed the same since the 16th century. Street names such as the Hatter's Street (Hattmakaregatan), Linen Weaver's Street (Linvävaregatan), Cloth Weaver's Street (Handskmakaregatan), Smith's Street (Smedsgatan) and Tanner's Street (Garvaregatan) reveal that Barcken's peninsula in Ekenäs once was populated by skillful craftsmen.
