About our home
Our hometown Naantali is a beautiful, old town by the sea and a part of the beautiful archipelago of Saaristomeri. The house is surrounded by a nice garden. On two sides of the garden there’s a big park with fields and woods. The house is not very big, but we think that it’s perfect for a couple. Besides the kitchen and a large living room we have one bedroom, a study, another, smaller living room, which we call “the sauna chamber” and then – of course – a very good sauna. In "sauna chamber" and study there are sofas, wich can be made for a bed for two.
We live in a peaceful neighborhood at the end of a little street. Our neighbors are nice and helpful, they are couples like us, but there are also two families with young children so there’s a lot of life too – especially when grandchildren come to visit their grandparents living in our street.
The Old Town of Naantali can be reached in 5 minutes by car, 15 minutes by bike and 35 minutes by walking. There’s a little food market 1 km from us and two bigger ones 2 km from here. The city of Turku is only 16 km from us, you can take a bus or even go by bike (we have two bikes, which you can use). There are two golf courses in Naantali and a couple more in Turku area. Helsinki can be reached by bus or train from Turku, it takes about two hours. You can easily reach the archipelago from Naantali - by bike and boat or bus. If you want to visit Stockholm, it can be done by ferries from Turku - a day in Stockholm (two nights on boat) is very popular. Also one day's cruise from Turku in the archipelago ("pick nick cruise") is very popular. And a one or two days trip to Tallinn Estonia is also easy to do! Just let us know and we will help you arrange any activities you like to do.

“What a beautiful house in a beautiful part of Finland! Leena was the nicest host, making sure we had everything we needed. Our favourite things that made this exchange unique was the house's location to a beautiful park right behind Leena's house that made you feel you were immediately in the middle of nature, and the fantastic sauna experience created by Leena's beautiful landscaping. Everything was perfect and we can easily recommend Leena's house to others.”

“Leena and Lasse are a great couple. Their house is much more pretty and cozy than looks in the photos, and really more tan fullfilled our expectations. Without doubt their garden is the nicest in the city, and that say very much about them. Naantali is a nice city and really worth visit all the área. We spent a very good time there, even the weather was good!
Leena, Lasse, we always remember you and our stay in your fantastic house. Thanks.”

“Prize-winning garden was a surprising delight - the pics don't do justice to it. The house was comfortable even for 5 people. Rooms are full of well-thought, obviously hand made details. Good and extremely safe place for children too: a children's playground bang in front of the garden, and no cars. Warmly recommended!”

“Leena's place is an island of nature beauty and hospitality.
It has a lovely garden, which won the prize of the municipality of Naantali with a very sunny exposure. It must be great to lie down in the chaiselongs in the summer, but even in the cold days of April we could have lunch outside and rest on the armchairs on the small and wind protected veranda. The park starting next to the house can be used for cross-country ski in the winter and for healthy Nordic walking in the spring or the summer. Leena and Lasse provided the walking sticks, the bikes and even the maintenance for them.
The house is very nicely done and cleverly designed. You cool down from the sauna directly in the garden,
The furniture is Finnish design made by the skillful host himself. There is everything you need, including TV sets in every bedroom and a station for iPad.
Leena and her husband are exceptionally hospitable. They met us with their own car at the Turku railway station, showed us around Turku and drove us home where they welcomed us with a delicious lunch of Finnish delicacies. The desert was more than organic - healthy Finnish turni full of Omega 3 from Leena's own garden. Leena and Lasse also did some shopping for us, because we arrived on a public holiday when all the food shops were closed. During our stay we had the opportunity to be in daily contact with them in case we had some questions or needed some help.
Leena also has a folder with practical information and activities/events both in Naantali, which is the summer capital of Finland and in famous Turku which is only 16 km away and easily reachable by bus.
