About our home

LOOKING FOR SWAPS ESPECIALLY IN INDIA BETWEEN 15th DECEMBER 2019 AND 15th JANUARY 2020. NON-SIMULTANEOUS SWAPS ALSO POSSIBLE - WE ALSO HAVE A COTTAGE BY A LAKE, AVAILABLE ALREADY DURING JUNE AND AUGUST 2019.

PORVOO INCLUDED IN THE LIST OF 30 MOST BEAUTIFUL TOWNS IN EUROPE: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/travelnews/12129402/The-30-most-beautiful-towns-in-Europe.html
Our house is a 2 storey house, built 1905-1925. We have 3-4 bedrooms, kitchen, living room with TV, a separate study, 2 bathrooms, the other with floor heating and bath tub. In the cellar we have a rather spartan but functioning sauna department. In the living room we have a traditional Scandinavian tiled oven, but the house is centrally heated, and it also has an AC/heating-machine in the kitchen area. Our house is cosy, and the total floor area is around 150 sq meters.

There are two storeys in our house, and it is equipped with all modern facilities like TV and DVD-player, wireless internet connection, Playstation, hi-fi CD-system, dishwasher, microwave, freezer. In the downstairs bathroom you'll find both washing machine and the dryer, and also a small infrared and steam sauna / shower box. You can of course borrow our bikes, 2 for men, 1 for women, and 1 suitable for children aged around 10.

The little garden has 2 distinctively different areas. Between the house and the garden house we have the "lower garden", with a little terrace, and on the other side of the garden house there are steps onto a little rocky hill, from which you can admire the sunset in the distance - nearly in the midnight, if June. The rocking garden swing on top of the hill is our favorite place in the summer. Our garden is bordered to a park, so you'll have good privacy on the hill. In the garden house you'll have a possibility enjoy fresh air also when raining, and you'll have a gas grill at your use.

Location is nearly perfect especially for families: extremely quiet and safe (so called) middle class area, yet only 1 km from the market square and all the amenities. The old town starts right from our doorstep. To the other direction there is a small nature preserve area, and the river runs 300 metres from our house. There is an inexpensive, public spa-type swimming pool 1,5 kms away. The capital Helsinki is only 50 kms from us, 55 mins by bus.

If a car exchange would be possible, ours is Peugeot 508, for 5 people.

It is also good to know that from Porvoo it is very easy to make a bus trip to Russian metropolis St Petersburg or from Helsinki by ferry to the Estonian capital Tallinn, Stockholm in Sweden or also to St Petersburg.

We are a family with 2 bio-boys (-99, -05) and one adopted little girl (-09 in India).

We have a summer cottage by a crystal-clear lake 110 kms from Porvoo. Finland is sparsely populated, but our cottage is only 3 kms from the nearest village with a food store, cafe etc. The last 2 photos are from our cottage. During the summer period it might be possible that you would stay partly in our house in Porvoo, and partly at our cottage. We are more than willing to discuss about different options.

We are rather family-oriented, non-religious and very liberal, and we appreciate ecological way of living, even though we like travelling. We also like reading, Nordic walking and yoga. We also appreciate a good sense of humour. ;)
