About our home

Our stunning 19th century wooden town house is situated in the heart of Porvoo - the second oldest city in Finland and one of the most popular traveler destinations in the country. We live just five minutes’ walk from Porvoo Old Town and the river, a stone throw from Porvoo bus station and only 40km from the international airport of Helsinki.

Our home boasts over 200 square meters of high ceilings, skylight windows, cosy fireplaces and old wooden floors. It is decorated with Finnish art, design and furniture, embracing both modern lines and antique finds.

Upstairs, you'll find three bedrooms; a master bedroom with an en suite bathroom, shower and toilet, and with a small "tower room" attached (used by our toddler at the moment), a double bedroom and a single bedroom. There is also a relaxing area (our "second living room"), a sauna with a shower space and laundry facilities, and a small lavatory. Upstairs has also our gym, but this is full of our clothes and other stuff so that you get free wardrobe and drawer space in the bedrooms!

Downstairs, you'll find a grand bedroom with its own kitchen facilities, tables and chairs, a lavatory and shower room, as well as our living room and spacious kitchen with a dining area. Access to the house is from the garden, via a hallway that leads to the kitchen, and via another entrance by the downstairs' bedroom.

In our beautiful private garden you'll find an amazing outdoor building - an old converted stable. It is a perfect place for romantic evenings by the fire...or even to sleep in! There is also a small sandpit for children to play in. A larger communal garden opens behind our own, with two private parking spaces in the garden, solely for our use. We have many bikes to borrow and if you want, we can arrange a car swap too.

Needless to say, you get to use our wifi and cable TV (we have three flat screen TVs in the house, two of which as in the bedrooms), children's toys and books (in Finnish, English and French!) and anything else you find useful in the house. The only thing you need to be careful of is the art and design in our home. Please do not let small children touch the paintings or other artwork in the house!

We are open for direct swaps and swaps at different times - we have a summer house where we can go to should we have guests here.

PLEASE NOTE THAT PORVOO IS INCLUDED IN THE LIST OF 30 MOST BEAUTIFUL TOWNS IN EUROPE! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/travelnews/12129402/The-30-most-beautiful-towns-in-Europe.html
