About our home

Our home is a new ski apartment built to high standards, completed in January 2005. It is one of about 12 apartments in a big chalet. The apartment is only a minute away from the chairlifts to La Plagne and its other villages. It is also a minute away from the village centre.

We want an exchange to cover the first two weeks in August. If we can come to some arrangement we are happy to let the apartment out in the winter if you would prefer.

We also own a house ( apprx 250 m2 ) near Harrogate in North Yorks, England which we could also exchange. This house has 4 bedrooms and a loft room ( accessed by a ladder so not suitable for young children )so we could sleep apprx 10
(excluding the loft room - 8 plus baby in cot ). We are close to York , Leeds, Harrogate, the North Yorkshire Moors and the Yorkshire Dales.

More about us

  1. My name is Catherine and my husband ,who moved to England 18 years ago from Sweden ,is called Jan. We have two girls - Elsa 7 yrs and Mimmi 10 months.

I am a business manager for a biotechnology company and Jan owns an interior design shop in Harrogate. We enjoy skiing, walking, eating out ( children permitting ), antique auctions etc

We bought our ski apartment in Montalbert near La Plagne apprx 1 year ago. My husband has skied since he ' could walk' so he didn't need a lot of persuading to buy a holiday home in the Alps. I am what you would describe as a nervous skier. Elsa is already rushing past me!!

Where is it?

Montalbert is one of 10 villages making up the La Plagne ski area ( www.la-plagne.com ). It is a delightfully unspoilt, Tarentaise village without a single concrete apartment block typical of many purpose built ski resorts. It has tree-lined runs suitable for all levels and a network of snow cannons allowing skiing back to the resort well into April.

Montalbert has all the amentities you require including 10 restaurants, a supermarket, bars , a number of ski shops etc.

Above all it has an excellent tourist office whose events co-ordinator organises plenty of free activites such as mulled wine evenings, tobogganing competitions, torchlight descents in the winter and trampolining, pony rides , hiking tours, mountain biking etc in the summer. Nearby in the summer there is golf, horse riding , white water rafting , canoeing etc making Montalbert a great place to visit with or without children in both summer and winter.

In December 2003 the Vanoise Express opened to link La Plagne with Les Arcs and created the Paradiski ski area one of the largest in the world with 239 pistes ( www.paradiski.com ) so for skiers or hikers more like my husband than me the 'world's your oyster'.
