About our home

We live in a traditional Creusoise farmhouse, with granite walls and oak beams. Its in a little hamlet surrounded by beautiful countryside and walks in the forest. We have 2 acres of ground with chickens and vegetables. At the moment we have a donkey resident in the garden too. We also have a big soft lump of a dog (a chocolate lab), and a cat. Ideally we would like to exchange with someone who is happy to look after our menagerie, and likewise we would do the same for you.

On the ground floor of our house there is a living room and dining kitchen, both with woodburning stoves (there's a wood pile outside) and bathroom; upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, one with a double bed, one with a single, and one with a double and single. Upstairs there is a floored loft area. We have internet access and the usual mod cons.

More about us

  1. We are a family of 5; our children are 10, 8 and 4. We are Scottish and moved over to this wonderful bit of the world last year - we like a bit of adventure. We love our home and would take care of yours as if it were our own.

We have family in Australia (mainly Perth) but we would love to visit somewhere ruralish for a couple of weeks too. We think a home exchange would be a fantastic way to see the real Australia.

We will reply to all enquires and so look forward to hearing from you.

Where is it?

This is the greenest and least densely populated area of France, near beautiful lakes for swimming in the summer and the Puy de Dome volcanic region for skiing in the winter. We're about 4 1/2 hours from Paris by car, less by train. Limoges pottery is made locally and Aubusson is famous for its tapestries.

Our hamlet has a great quirky restaurant with a huge dining table that all the guests sit round. There is a bakers van, and the nearest village is about 5km away. Aubusson, the nearest town with supermarkets and the like is about 15kms. All around there are wonderful local food markets.
