About our home

This is a very beautiful and sumptuously comfortable apartment.Originally decorated by a renowned British interior designer as his international showcase we have since filled it with lovely period furniture ,mirrors ,pictures ,and Persian rugs ,making the apartment the most wonderful of second homes
..It is centrally heated , but has a log fire too ,so it is warm and delightfully romantic in winter with the shutters closed ,while being cool, airy and peaceful ,with the tall windows flung open on hot summer days
The bookcases are crammed with books, DVD's and CD's, and the apartment gets both British and French TV
The apartment is capable of sleeping four; two people in the most flamboyant four poster bed and two in the Maid's Room which is two floors up, and has great views over the Chateau's park to the sea. Two well-serviced adult bikes are available for use, and more can be hired nearby.
Utah Beach is a 20 minute drive … the Bayeux Tapestry 45mins…and Mont St Michel 105 mins.
Paris and the Chateaux of the Loire are both a 4hr drive away
Ferries come year round from Poole and Portsmouth to Cherborg and Caen( 30 and 75 minutes away
Every conceivable seaside activity is available-sailing ,sand yachting ,horseriding;fishing, hiking
The restaurants are naturally wonderful for seafood and St Vaast oysters are famous
But if you want to eat al fresco on the Chateau terrace there is seating for 6 and a great BBQ

We have a French couple who come in to do cleaning and laundry for a small charge during your visit if you require them?
Otherwise, on departure, please leave Euros 50 in the drop down desk section of the large Marquetry Secretaire in the Salon (between the windows),
for your check out cleaning and laundry

More about us

  1. We're an English couple with a great interest in the arts; opera, theatre, politics and cultural events. We feel we would absorb more of the culture of the places we visit by staying in someone's home rather than in impersonal hotels .. however delightful!

  2. Geoffrey is a retired trial lawyer and former judge. He has travelled the world extensively, and continues to do so .. He has three grown up children and five grandchildren and speaks French. He has a strong interest in classical civilisations.

  3. Jacqueline is a cybersecurity consultant and also has three grown up children. She speaks Italian and studied
a combination of arts and sciences at universities in Italy and the US. She worked as an international management consultant for over 20 years and now works for the UK Government. She and Geoffrey have enoyed some arduous trips to remote archaeaological sites in Turkey recently, and plan to explore their shared interests by visiting some of the available locations on the lovehomes site.
