About our home

Our property is a pretty, but extensive 'longierre', it has been renovated to a good standard to give it a more contemporary interior. It is a pretty stone built, slate roofed building dating back over 200 years.

We have modernised the property to provide a spacious 280sq metre, 4 large bedrooms (3 king size, 1 double, 2 bathroom house. It includes a modern kitchen, large dining room, living room with wood burner, games room with pub pool table and bar (awaiting decoration but still a usable play room). Large family bathroom, shower room. Outside we have a large private garden and an acre of hill top paddock attached. Our house has a lot of character inside and out, many of the exterior and some interior walls measuring over a metre in thickness.

You are welcome to use any of our facilities, including 100's of books, dvd's and videos (mostly English). Dvd/video player, SKY+ (English satellite 100's of channels), tv. Board games, childrens toys etc.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

The house sits on the top of a hill in a traditional French farming hamlet of less than 20 houses. It has beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. It is a 5 minute drive from the ancient market town of Avranches which sits in the mouth of the bay of Mont St Michel. Avranches is close to the borders of Brittany, Normandy and Loire in France.

The peaceful sandy beaches of Normandy are 15 minutes drive. Holiday type beaches and marina/harbour 20 mins drive. They are a great place to walk, do water sports, (canoeing, sailing, jet skiing, water skiing etc.) or collect shellfish such as oysters, mussels and clams.

The gastronomy of Normandy and Brittany is world famous and still produces many delicacies in traditional ways. This is an area where you can choose to live and taste both the modern or traditional French life, but not a place to come if you are on a diet! The fruit de mer, local cheeses, mouth watering patisseries and chocolateries will see to that.

The local town offers many pretty little restaurants, bars and shops. There are many, many other places to explore in the area Mont St Michel being the principle attraction. St Malo, Avranches, Rennes, Granville, Cancal, Dinard, Dinan, Bayeux, Honfleur, and Fougeres being some of the most interesting that we have found within an hours drive.

If you are looking for a beautiful, unspoilt and friendly place, with fantastic food, wine and people then this is it.
