About our home

Axat is a pearl "hidden" in the most beautiful mountains, 70 kms from the Mediterranean beaches. The village is surrounded by hills and rocks. The height above sea level is appx. 400 meters. The spacious semidetached 2 storey house was refurbished in 1981 and appears in a traditional French style with 4 bedrooms (3 available for you), a large livingroom, toilet and 2 bathrooms, one at each floor. A balcony and a terrace is facing south the rafting river l'Aude with a splendid view to the mountains.
At the back of the house there is a small garden with a terrace under the balcony, separated from the river by a narrow track with access to our garage at the ground-floor.

Our house in Axat is available 2007, 1-3 weeks for exchanges with families living in the south of Europe.
We are a Danish couple (married since 1966) and have been living in France for 3 years.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

The village is a popular hikers place in the summertime. Walking is possible directly from our house â driving ist not necessary. Axat has a public swimmingpool. An old railway connects Axat with Perpignan, open for tourist excursions in the summer season.
A Baker, two butchers and two grocers as well as a Tabac (newspaper agent) are ready to serve you just down the road. We live only two hundred meters from the town center. You'll find supermarkets and many other shops in Quillan â the town next to Axat (12 km).
