More about us

  1. We are both retired. Mike was in the RAF for many years and then worked as a school bursar. Liz was a deputy head teacher and it will come as no surprise that we met when we both worked together. We have a home in England near Ross-on-Wye and divide our time between France and the UK. We have a large family, all of whom live in the UK and love to visit us in France. We will take great care of your home and treat it with respect.

Where is it?

This is our second home and it can be found in the very pretty and friendly village of Bonnes on the Charente/Dordogne border. We have French neighbours. There are around 350 inhabitants, French, Dutch and English in the village. Our home is a 400+ years old house and has been completely renovated to a very high standard, whilst retaining some interesting original features. The village centre (3 minutes walk) has a boulangerie and a hairdresser, as well as a traditional French bar/restaurant and an Italian restaurant with varied menus and also take away meals. We are about 8 minutes drive from Aubeterre, the home of Ludovic Trarieux of Human Rights fame, with its famous monolithic church, interesting shops, riverside beach and good restaurants. We are within easy reach of Cognac with its distilleries, St Emilion with its world famous wines and many other attractive spots. The TGV gives access to Paris in a little over 2 hours from Angouleme which is 45 minutes away by road. An excellent local market is held every Monday in nearby Chalais. There are two riverside beaches in less than 10 minutes drive as well as golf, riding, canoeing and walking nearby.
