About our home

Our house is a renovated typical "Girondine" former wine maker house.
Located in the Upper Gironde, near Blaye (45 km from Bordeaux), in a large garden with a pool, it overlooks the vineyards. South oriented, it is very comfortable and bright. Every facility can be found in Blaye (shops, restaurants, cinema, hospital, etc.). We have a large kitchen with a table for 10, a dining and living room with a baby grand piano and a hifi, a veranda with a terrace leading to the 11 meter-pool and a barbecue. There are five bedrooms; two of them have an attached bathroom and the others an independent bathroom. The other rooms are a study with a PC and internet access, a TV room with a DVD player and a large garage (two cars, laundry, physical training apparatuses).
Our two cars (7 seat-Peugeot 307 SW and 5 seat-Rover diesel coupe) could be part of the exchange. There are also 5 bicycles.

More about us

We are a family of five. I am Pascal, 45 years old, consultant engineer and former officer in the navy. My wife Anne-Marie, 39 is a fitness instructor and personal trainer for the basket teams of Blaye. We have 3 sons: Marc, 14; Luc, 11 and Jean, 8. They enjoy playing basket and video games! Marc plays the piano and Luc the guitar. Jean is fond of nature and geology. My former job allowed us to travel a lot in France and abroad but we have never been to North America.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Our home is situated in the vineyards "Les Côtes de Blaye" along the river "La Gironde". It's possible to cross the Gironde from Blaye to go to the "Médoc", another famous vineyard. Numerous tours are available to discover the Châteaux and taste their wine. Bordeaux, 45 km far from Blaye, is a marvellous city, entirely renovated with a new tramway, many museums, beautiful architecture, etc.
It takes about one hour by car to reach the Atlantic Ocean and enjoy swimming in the waves. The "bassin d'Arcachon" is also a beautiful place to swim, fish, eat oysters, etc.
