About our home

This 200 year old farm house has been my home for 10 years now: I spent a lot of time in renovating it up to luxury standard, yet keeping the charm of old tiles and Provençal wooden beam ceilings - the result is a wonderful and cosy home with up-to-date bath rooms, a gourmet kitchen and even a SPA with Jacuzzi! On the ground floor there is a double-living room: the dining room with a large table, the open kitchen with all equipment a gourmet cook would look for. Next to the dining room is a cosy 'salon' with a baby-grand piano, a big flat screen TV (international Satellite programs), a fire place, and comfortable sofas. There is also an office (with High Speed Internet Access). Upstairs there are two large rooms with parquet on the floor, the one room with a king, the other a queen size bed. Each room has its own bath room, and there is a separate toilet as well. There are three wonderful cats on the grounds, all neutered and on friendly terms with Salam, my poodle-sized dog (who would have his vacation from me with his 'step parents' and would not be in the house during your stay) . I would however ask you to feed the cats - they are good company, easy to live with, and have a 'cat window' to come in and out of the house... You will have a very efficient cleaning help once a week, and this additional work would cost you 15 Euros per hour... unless you provide similar service in your home.

More about us

  1. I am of German origin but have settled in Provence abt 20 years ago. In my professional life I was a journalist and retired to sunny Provence, running a Bed and Breakfast for 10 years which I sold when I found this wonderful 'Mas" (which is Provençal and stands for 'maison', or house in English). I never did a home exchange before, so this will be an exciting experience! My home is charming with all high standard equipment and furniture, a nice terrace shaded by two century old plane trees, and a great pool (10 x 5 m). I am very meticulous (German origin... can't help it) - and would expect you to keep my house as if it were yours, and as I will do with your property! The option of having my cleaning help during your stay has been mentioned before ....this would avoid you the chores of cleaning - not really the best way to spend your vacation! You could also ask her to come more often to do your washing or ironing...and if you want some-one to cater for you, this would definitely be a highlight of your stay in Provence... on the other hand, there are chockablock of wonderful restaurants in the area - you will find a list of the best of them as well as all the spots to visit.

Where is it?

I fell in love with this house, its old plane trees in front of it, amidst a 4 acres garden with fruittrees and typical Provençal plants (even some lavender!). The 10 x 5 m pool is big enough to have your daily workout, and is much appreciated after a long day visiting all those medieval villages, colourful markets full of fresh fruit and vegetables. The house is situated between and Les Taillades, a charming village with its old water-mill, and Cavaillon, a small town with all shops, (the next super Super-market 'AUCHAN' is just one mile away and open every day until 10 p.m., except Sundays)... You are just 30 minutes away from Avignon or Aix en Provence, Marseille International Airport is 40 miles, the Cote d'Azur just 2 hours, and you can even make a day-trip to Paris (less than 3 hours by the TGV speed train). Even Italy or Spain are only abt 4 hours away ... I would leave you my GPS to help you not to get lost! A car could be left for your use, provided that you can arrange for an insurance, and that I could have a car waiting for me at your house... Your 'pied a terre' is an ideal place to visit all the medieval villages or towns of the area, and to browse over the Provençal markets with all the typical goat cheeses, lavender honey, fresh melons or cherries (your mouth watering already?) You may wonder why so many people visit Provence or just LIVE here? Spend your vacations in this authentic part of Provence and you know the anser!
