Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Our house is located by Charly, 10 km south of Lyon.
In charly, tennis is 5 mn walk. We have bikes in different sizes. It is also possible to do golfing as there is a good club just 8 km away.

Our home is a nice place to escape hectic and stress, but the many possibilities of the town and the area are not too far away. Lyon is in a beautiful city, located in a very touristic region.

Lyon is the second-largest city in France with the population of its urban area estimated to be 1,400,000. Located just two hours from Paris (south) on the TGV (High Speed Train), Lyon is 200 km (120 mi) from the Provence and 350 km (200 mi) from the mediteranean sea and 160 km (99 mi) from Geneva (Switzerland).

The city of Lyon is known for its historical and architectural landmarks and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In the first century B.C., Lyon was first an important Roman capital of the three Gauls (France) known at the time as Lugdunum (meaning "the hill of light"). Then Lyon became a major Christian center. From that time, prosperity continued to grow, reaching its peak in the Renaissance.
Lyon has developed a reputation as the capital of gastronomy in France also due to the presence of many of France's finest chefs in the city and its surroundings (e.g. Paul Bocuse) . Two of France's best known wine-growing regions are located near Lyon: the « Beaujolais » to the North, and the « Côtes du Rhône » to the South.
Lyon has a significant role in the history of cinema due to Auguste and Louis Lumière who pioneered cinema in the town in 1895.
Lyon is an ideal city for fashion too.

From Lyon, you can visit also :
· Bourgogne Region 150 kms (90 mi): the World famous wine region,
· Pérouges 30 kms (21 mi) : a medieval well-preserved village,
· Avignon 200 kms (120 mi): The old city of popes,
· Annecy 200 kms (100 mi): One of the most beautiful and popular resort towns of the French Alps.
· Alps mountains 200 kms (120 mi): Chamonix, Megève, Courchevel...
· Provence region 160 kms (100 mi): with the beautiful villages et landscapes,
