About our home

Our house is located in a narrow cul de sac with nearly no traffic at all...so it is extremely quiet.
The house as well as it's small garden face south, so they are flooded with sunlight as soon as there is a ray of sun.
It is an old (but renovated !)1936 3-storey house with, on the ground floor, a very large open space with a newly equipped kitchen, a nice dining area and a large living room that leads directly into the garden once you open the French doors. In the summer, it is very lovely to have our dinner right there in the front garden.

More about us

  1. I am Nancy , 44 years old. I am a dual national, American/French (my mother's from Wisconsin!) and I work for a further education institution teaching English and doing translating work. I have two well-behaved, well-travelled daughters of 19 and 16 years old. But their English is poor and I would really like to help them improve it by spending some time in the states or in any other English-speaking country this summer...

Neighbourhood

We live in a quiet suburb just 5 kms north west of Paris and 10 kms from Champs-Elysées. Our area of town is mostly composed of small houses with small gardens so it is nice and safe...and quiet.

It is within 10 minutes walking distance of the train station and another 10 minutes' train journey will get you to the most exciting shopping district of Paris with galeries Lafayette, Printemps, Fnac...The opera House is close by and not very much further away you have beautiful Louvre Museum with its tuileries garden...Just hop on the big wheel in the tuileries and enjoy the view of Paris...If you'd rather explore the surroundings of Paris, we can let you use our 5-seat Renault... if you can handle stick shift driving, that is !!
If you'd rather stay home, small grocery stores, hairdressers, a movie theater are within reasonable walking distance (10 minutes) and there is even a Mac Donald for the extremely homesick !

In the surroundings, within half an hour's drive you'll find the Castle of Versailles that once belonged to Louis the XIVth, the houses of Alexandre Dumas, Chateaubriand, Aragon all 3 famous French writers... Within one hour's drive north west : Monet's garden and less than one hour north of Paris in Auvers sur Oise, Van Gogh's museum...(this list is not exhaustive !)

Closer by, you can enjoy the spa swimming area in the neighbouring city of Bois Colombes with its Hammam, sauna and jaccuzi and lovely swimming pool...By car it's just 5 minutes...
The transportation system in Paris is very efficient and once you get to the centre of Paris, you will find that you don't need a car at all to get around .
