About our home

Beautiful "maison bourgeoise" near forest in Fontainebleau town center. Marble fireplaces. Wood floors. Stained glass windows. Large shady garden fully enclosed by stone walls. Modern kitchen. Decorated and furnished with care.

Our friendly and capable housekeeper lives in a separate house at the back of the garden. She will clean the house, take care of the garden, and do your laundry. She speaks French and Portuguese.

The ground floor level is for everyone: double living room with library wing, formal dining room, and kitchen with terrace. The first level is the parent's level: our bedroom with en suite bathroom, WC, one office/guestroom with separate sink area (sleeps 2), and one office. The children have the top floor: one bedroom has its own sink, a 2nd large bedroom has a bunkbed, and a 3rd smaller bedroom has a double bed on a mezzanine. The children also have a bathroom with WC, a dressing room and a computer area on the landing.

More about us

We are a highly educated professional couple in our 40s. French husband/American wife. We both work in offices from our house. We have three well-behaved calm daughters (14, 11 and 8). Our house is full of books, computer games, musical instruments (piano, guitars, violins) and lots of toys for girls.
We love dogs and cats and don't mind petting and feeding yours. Our golden retriever and siamese cat will be cared for by our housekeeper, so you can simply enjoy their company.
In the short school vacations, we would like to stay in a house or apartment in Central London for a week. We are also interested in staying in Central Paris for short breaks so we can see what it is like to live in the city while you enjoy the Fontainebleau forest.
In the summer, ideally we would love to stay in a villa with swimming pool and view of the sea in the south of France. We are also interested in other destinations as long as there is a big swimming pool, or the house is on the beach or lake. We love water and swimming!

Where is it?

Fontainebleau is in the forest 65 km south of Paris.

What I love about our house is that I can walk everywhere. I hardly ever use my car. Fontainebleau forest starts at the end of my street. Shops, restaurants, cinema, theatre and the open air market are just down the street in the other direction. Fontainebleau castle and its beautiful gardens just 10 minutes by foot. Trains to Paris just 20 minutes walk away (45 minute journey to Paris).

A car is useful for visiting some of the nearby villages (Barbizon, Moret-sur-Loing, Samois-sur-Seine), Vaux-le-Vicomte, EuroDisney (1 hour drive) and Paris (1 hour drive).
