About our home
Beautiful, peaceful 5-bedroom house with pool in Normandy, France. Near to beaches at Deauville and Trouville, the pretty harbour at Honfleur, or a couple of hours to Paris. This is a second home with a very large garden, a pool and a sense of space and relaxation. Perfect for kids to run around in and for the adults to enjoy with glass of wine. There is a big climbing frame and sandpit arrangement for smaller kids. The skies at night are wonderful, so if you like observing the constellations, you won't be disappointed!
The home has good-sized rooms and we decorated on the ground and first floor last summer. The lounge areas are small and cozy - good in the winter for log fires and not a problem in the summer, when most of the time is spent outdoors. We do like cooking and find that we have everything we need, including a good set of knives. We have Sky, broadband and a Sonos music system, so you can enjoy our entire music collection at the press of a button.
The house is centrally heated and has a septic tank. There are all the ameneties (washer, dryer, downstairs and top-floor toilet) as it was a principal residence for the previous owners. The pool is large (11 x 5 metres), but the pool house has not yet been developed, so is simply for storing furniture. We have someone who can come to look after the pool for you (he speaks very good English) and a cleaner who can come as little or often as you wish. The village of Fumichon has 67 official inhabitants, but we go to Moyaux for our morning pain au chocolat and newspapers! Cormeille has a fabulous patissiere and a Friday morning food market as well as a good handful of lovely antique shops.
The nearest city is Lisieux, about 10 minutes drive away. Our home is a good 1-2hrs drive to Paris, but you can easily leave the car in the station at Lisieux and do a daytrip to the delightful city.
There is so much to do if you want to: Food markets; cider tasting; horseriding; beach visiting; shopping in Deauville. Of course there are the historical aspects to this part of the world - the Normandy beaches, the Bayeux Tapestry and countless Norman churches and places of historical interest. There is always some kind of festival on in the nearby towns and a super safari park called Cerza, only 5 minutes down the road. If you like food, there are some 1-star Michelin restaurants in the area too!
But then you might want to do nothing but relax and enjoy the garden, strike up a barbecue and guzzle a beer!
The nearest airport is the Aéroport de Deauville Saint-Gatien (DOL), near Deauville. Cityjet does a frequent flight from London City Airport - convenient for a long weekend. The house is about 30 mins away by taxi. Otherwise, take a flight to Paris and catch the train to Lisieux station, which is 10 mins away by car. We are about 3 hours' drive from the Eurotunnel at Calais.

More about us
- We are Ben and Debbie with two young kids. Ben is a company director and Debbie is a part-time photographer. We live in London and love to visit art galleries and enjoy the culture of a place, whilst being able to properly relax. We speak French, German, some Italian and Spanish.
- We love skiing and have so far been to Italy for 10 years in a row. We would like to find a new, family location to ski for a couple of weeks or so at Christmas or in mid-February 2012 in the USA or Canada. We are restricted to the UK school holidays.
- We would also possibly be interested in a beach location in Europe for a week or so this summer.
