About our home

Our house in France is a beautifully restored 1870s farmhouse located in a private hamlet overlooking Rousillon in the heart of the Luberon. The house has five bedroom and easily sleeps 10. There are 3 1/2 bathrooms, a large kitchen and large living area with a fireplace. There is also a garden and terrace plus outbuildings and a pool built into the hillside overlooking Rousillon, which is 4 km from our house. Gordes is 8 km from the house and Apt which has a fabulous Saturday market is 11 km away.

Besides visiting these charming villages and shopping their wonderful markets, their are lots of wineries to try, two within walking distance. It's perfect for biking, hiking and walking with lovely views of lavender fields in the early summer and lots of vineyards. There also are quite a few historical sites in the area.

More about us

  1. My husband is Dutch and I am American. He publishes a small newspaper in Eastern Washington and I work for a nonprofit that assists landmine and bomb victims in Southeast Asia and Afghanistan. We have a 12-year-old son. We have been working on our house in France for several years, and have recently finished the remodel. We visit when ever we can. It's a wonderful place to gather for families or for groups of friends.

Where is it?

Our quiet, rural location in the heart of the Luberon is Ideally suited as a base for touring the local villages and markets, and for just relaxing by the pool with its marvelous view of Rousillon. Apt, which is 11 km away, has a large market every Saturday, and the smaller villages have theirs during the week. Isle Sur La Sorgue, which has a big antique market in addition to the regular wares, is about a 20-minute drive from our house.

There are many local wineries and excellent restaurants in the area and lots of galleries to visit in several local towns. The biking is great and it's fun to ride to some of the smaller hillside villages for coffee in the morning. Plenty of fabulous bakeries!
