About our home

Our home is said to be very cosy, quiet and peaceful.
My husband made it from an old barn and we moved inside in 2000. We are very proud of it. A flowered path leads to our entrance. It is airy, luminous. A few stairs and you enter a large dining room with large windows on the terrace. We are to make a veranda this year (2006) where i can transfer all my painting stuff and will make it my painting studio. The kitchen is just beside the dining room, il is large and long and it contains a huge and beautiful stone baker's oven, where we make some pizzas and bread from time to times. From the dining room you can also go to the cellar and taste our own wine !
The terrace is not completed yet but we'll have some place with stone and wood floor, lots of flowers in pots and the veranda-painting studio !
On the first stage, you will find 2 bedrooms with a balcony, and my office (computer, tv, sofa, and lots of books) set in a mezzanine, plus a bathroom. I hope you like timber wood because we have a lot ! From the windows , we have a large viewpoint especially in winter, surrounded by the trees of a castle's park just next to our house.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Our house is located in a typical wine growers'village of 300 inhabitants : Nonette (only 3 families still make their own wine, and we are one of them), near the top of the dyke which is the scientific name for the volcano chimney of Nonette.
Nature is just a few footsteps from the house as a lovely path starts just 30 meters farther and makes the upper tour of the volcano on 1.5 km (1 mile). You can also go to the top of the hill and admire the large scenery, the plain with the river Allier and the moutains around it.
The city of Issoire is 10 km from Nonette and Clermont Ferrand the big city of Auvergne is 50 km (1/2 hour drive by the highway which passes in the plain, and that you can see from our balcony far in the plain, far away...).
If you want to buy good food, you must go to Le Breuil (5 km)or Saint Germain (7 km)(you can die for the cheese and Salers meat you can find there!).
You will find a zoo 20 km from Nonette, very old churches (a roman art festival happens in Issoire at the end of july), Vulcania (ludic center on volcanism),lots of volcanoes, crater lakes, superb Salers cows...
