This beautiful character cottage (Le Petit Vallon) was once a working 'fermette' and is located within 4 acres of meadow and woodlands. The accommodation is spacious and comprises: downstairs - a spacious lounge with oak parquet flooring, log burning fire, dining room, WC, a large kitchen/breakfast room. The breakfast room is a feature you will enjoy as the french doors open out onto a large terrace which has wonderful views over the valley and beyond to the village where you can see Payzac church tower. The terrace has a built-in BBQ, patio furniture and sunloungers. Upstairs: two large bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin), shower room/toilet. The accommodation is very spacious, fully self contained and you can enjoy your holiday in complete privacy. There is a TV which receives English programmes, books and games and an office area with a desk & Internet connection. The cottage is set within 4 acres of meadow and woodland. Here there are buzzards nesting in the trees and if you wander down the meadow you will come across a tinkling brook. You may be lucky and spot a deer crossing the land - or even a wild boar!
My husband Mike and I moved to the Dordogne in France 5 years ago and are enjoying the relaxed way of life, the French food and culture and most of all - the friendly, warm kindness of the French people. We love travelling and are keen to exchange our lovely home so that others may share our experience. As we are semi-retired, we are quite flexible with dates. We would obviously like to get to know the people with whom we are exchanging in advance via email or phone.
The cottage is situated in the Dordogne, France - an area of outstanding natural beauty. It also has the added advantage of being within easy reach of many tourist attraction: Horse racing at Pompadour, the 40 hectare Lake Rouffiac and beach, many magnificent chateaux and numerous pre-historic caves â to name but a few. You can take a stroll each morning to buy your fresh croissants for breakfast at the nearby village of Payzac and maybe have a 5 course lunch (including wine) at one of the village restaurants for as little as 10 euros!! The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful and unspoilt with rolling hills and valleys, old stone cottages, many rivers and lakes to explore and most famously - the wonderful restaurants boasting dishes of truffles and foie gras. It's almost like stepping back in time. The pace of life is slow and relaxed and the medieval villages and landscape look the same as they did many centuries ago.
