About our home

WE WOULD LIKE TO SWAP DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS - FROM ONE WEEK UP TO 15 DAYS, DEPENDING UPON THE LOCATION AND PERIOD OF THE YEAR

Our flat, which is 125m2 with 4 bedrooms is located on the third and top floor (no lift) of a 19th century-building (wooden-floor in every room).

It is full of light and quiet (there are only 3 flats in the whole building). It is close to shops, museums, cinema, swimming-pool, pebble beach ...

Ground floor : kitchen (with fridge, electric oven, toaster, kettle, microwave, coffee-machine, dishwasher), large living room with wifi, TV, Wii, a lot of DVDs, CDs, and books. There is also one spacious bedroom (double bed), toilet (WC), bathroom with shower.

2nd floor : one small bedroom (single bed) ; one medium bedroom (single bed) with a superb view on Le Havre rooftops, one small room (double bed). Toilet (WC). Bathroom with shower. 2 additionnal matresses are available.

2 adult bicycles and toys and many games for kids.

We live with a cat but she will not be home during swaps.

Eventually, we could propose our car (Peugeot 308 automatic, 55 000 km) if we don't need it.

More about us

  1. Laurence is a primary school teacher, Yves works for the local administration. We've been living in Normandy since 2010 with our 2 daughters (15 et 19 years old, the latest studying now in Nancy most of the year). We spent some years abroad before (in India, Madagascar and Guatemala) and in Paris as well. We enjoy discovering new cultures and different places. We like cities (for architecture, arts,...) as well as the countryside (for landscapes, nature,..). We also enjoy discovering foreign cultures by tasting food and drinks ! We have already done 5 successfull exchanges (Catalunya, Noord-Brabant, Vienna, London and Alicante).

Neighbourhood

The apartment is located in the heart of Le Havre. The city has a very special atmosphere due to its modern and unique architecture. https://www.lehavretourisme.com/en / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeqDpTH0l84

For this reason Le Havre got a UNESCO label 10 years ago : http://unesco.lehavre.fr/en

See a recent article published by The Independent in UK : http://www.independent.co.uk/travel/europe/le-havre-architecture-auguste-perret-what-to-see-niemeyer-le-volcan-muma-gallery-a8040531.html

In May 2017, The Guardian also published this : https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2017/may/14/le-havre-concrete-modern-architecture-500th-city-anniversary

The train station is 7 minute walk away and the beach 10 minute by tram.

There are several direct trains to Paris a day (2 hours trip) and Rouen, a medieval city renowned for its cathedral painted by Monet, is just one hour away. It is easy to go by car to visit the surroundings of Le Havre : Etretat’s cliffs (45 minutes), Honfleur’s tiny lovely harbour (40 minutes), Deauville’s casino, race course and beautiful villas (1 hour), the D-Day beaches (1 and a half hour), Monet’s house and museum in Giverny (1 hour and 45 minutes). http://en.normandie-tourisme.fr/normandy-tourism-1-2.html

In Le Havre there many options for sailing activities (practising, learning, ...), for adults and children.
