“Lyons-la-Foret is a beautiful town and Shirley and Olek's home is centuries old with so much warmth and character. We have nothing like it back home in British Columbia, Canada. Shirley met us on our arrival, gave us a tour and had the fridge stocked with some food and drink for our stay. We stayed two weeks and were out on adventures everyday. We were sad to leave.”

About our home
Situated in a historical village categorised as one of France's most beautiful villages with several restaurants and surrounded by France's largest beech forest - all within walking distance. This charming 3 bed cottage is believed to date from the 16th century and opened as a gite in October 2016. The décor has retained many of the original features with a contemporary twist and has timber beams throughout.
Downstairs, the house has a farmhouse style kitchen and a living room. Both rooms have wood burning stoves. The kitchen has a dishwasher, washing machine, cooker, fridge freezer (stocked with complementary refreshments) and microwave. There is kitchenware and appliances suitable for a self-catering holiday.
The living room has a large sofa and smart television with French digital channels. The TV has USB and HDMI ports so you can plug in your own laptop if you wish. There is also a DVD player with a selection of French and English DVDs to borrow including films shot in our village.
Access to the private enclosed garden is via the kitchen.
The staircase from the kitchen leads to the three bedrooms and shower room. The main bedroom has a Queen size bed 190 x 200 fitted wardrobes and dressing table. There are two further bedrooms which are arranged 1 with a bed 190 x 200 which can be converted to a single bed if you require more space in the room and the third bedroom houses a single bed, fitted wardrobe and drawers. Further child beds and cots can be provided free with notice. We can accommodate a maximum of 5 adults and 2+ children depending on ages. There are 2 child cots available and child gates can be fitted at the top of the stairs with prior notice. Before entering the shower room, there is a chill out area which has a hairdryer, bathrobes and toiletries. All linen and towels are provided.

More about us
-
We're a couple with two teenage children. We love cities, countryside and the seaside. In fact we are very flexible about where we go. As we live in France full time, we often need somewhere to stay when visiting family in London. Olek is an artist and Shirley is a global HR Consultant. Our teenage children are 18 and 17 years old and are respectful and adventurous although they don't always travel with us.

We have 2 medium sized dogs but won't need to bring them with us if they cannot be accommodated.

Our cottage available for the swap, is also rented as a holiday home and we live next door. It is available for points or swaps anytime when it is available. We don't necessarily need to swap properties at the same time as anyone wants to visit us.
