About our home
West of Provence and the Riviera, in downtown Montpellier enjoy the best of Languedoc (festivals, beach, vineyards, picturesque villages). The house is on a small street 5 minutes from the heart of the city, the train station and all public transports. The living area on the ground floor opens on the kitchen and a private patio where you can eat. Also opening on the patio, a small room used as an occasional spare bedroom. Upstairs, the bathroom and 3 small bedrooms ; two with double beds and one with a single bed that can be pulled to make a double bed. My house is equiped with wifi internet access, cable TV, DVD player, washing machine and dishwasher.
Although very near the city centre, the neighbourhood has a southern village-like atmosphere. In the streets nearby, you will find many shops and small restaurants and three farmers markets on some days in the week. This area lies between the old city centre with its mixture of medieval, classical and XIXth century buildings and the modern architecture of the new neighbourhoods. The train station, the terminal of the airport shuttle, four tramway lines and all the buses are within less than a 10mn-walk. Express trains (TGV) will take you to Paris and Spain in a little over 3 hours. Italy is a little further. I have a small automatic car (Renault Twingo) that I can swap but only for short day trips around Montpellier. Montpellier also offers a system of cheap and handy rental bikes

“I had a fabulous time in Christine’s very attractive home. She is a superb and generous hostess and couldn’t have been more helpful both before and during my stay. Her lovely home is situated super conveniently near to the centre of town, the tram stops and the main station. But it is in a charming and very quiet little street with interesting old artisan houses. I hugely enjoyed having meals in the quiet and very attractive little courtyard. There is so much to explore in Montpellier and the surrounding countryside and coastline. Thank you, Christine for a wonderful holiday! ”
“La maison de Christine est vraiment charmante, très bien situeé à quelques pas seulement du centre ville et de la gare de Montpellier. Les repas le soir dans la cour, vraiment agréables. Christine est quelqu'un de très attentionnée et sympatique. Elle ne pouvait pas s'absenter de la maison pendant notre séjour mais elle a accepté de nous accueillir malgré ça, ce qui a rendu notre séjour encore plus agréable et intéressant. On espère y retourner un jour. Merci!”
“Christine’s home is in a great location, 7 minutes walk from the train station and ten minutes walk into the old town . The private patio area is lovely for a siesta and meals outside. The locality is arty and interesting and easy to get around. It is a lovely place to stay to explore Montpelier and many beautiful places nearby eg Carcassonne and Narbonne.”
“We had a great holiday at Christine's home. Her large house (rare in Montpellier) has a beautiful courtyard offering a lot of privacy and tranquility. It is a 5-minute walk from the city center and the old town. In addition, the house is close to all public transport including the train station. Thank you so much Christine for making us so welcome! (Merci beaucoup Christine pour nous avoir si bien accueilli !)”
“We had a wonderful time with our 2 teenage children in Christine's home. Christine was the perfect host - even collected us from the airport and had her fridge stocked for us! The house location is excellent - on a quiet street 10 minutes walk to the main square in the city with a good range of shops, and very well served by public transport. It had plenty of room for the 4 of us and the rear garden was very relaxing. There is a local tapas bar very nearby which was great for an evening beer. Montpellier is an excellent place to visit - during our 2 weeks we visited local beaches (20 minutes drive), Marseille (which was an excellent spot), Arles (Van Gogh etc.), ziplining, ice skating, zoo and a large cave. All within easy reach - although Marseille is best with an overnight stay. We would definitely recommend this house, owner and location”
“We had a fantastic time at Christine's house, over New Year in Montpellier. It is a wonderful base to visit the city and the nearby Etang de Thau with the tasty oysters and beautiful flamingos, and the coast around Sète. The house is comfortable and Christine is a great host, she explained everything in the house very well, and gave us a lot of useful insider information about where to go and what to do. Thanks Christine, I hope we'll come back sometime, and look forward to seeing you in the Berry!”
“We had a wonderful stay end in Christine's house. The house is very well located and could explore the great city of Montpellier. Communication was great and Christine always very helpful!! Many thanks for this great week end!!”
“Staying at Christine´s apartment in Montpellier went way beyond our expectations. It is a most charming apartment in the heart of Montpellier. Christine is an excellent host, speaks fluently English and is in every way both helpful and understanding. We had a great time at her house for ten days, 12.- 22. June 2016. Óttar and Guðný from Iceland.”
“Christina was definitely the best host we have had so far. She was very friendly, kind and relaxed when she welcomed us. She explained everything about the house and the area. She has a folder full of information about the house, Montpellier and the places around the city. We had a great holiday in Montpellier, it's a beautiful city, very old and historical with full of nice cafes and restaurants. We would love to come back to this fantastic city and Christina's lovely house full of character. ”
“Our stay in Montpellier was perfect as Christine was the perfect host and her english was too. She assisted us all the way, even helping with train information and suggestions where to visit for bakeries , restaurants walks etc. Montpellier was a great base for our 5 day stay as the train station is only a 10 min walk away so we found it was very easy to train it to Nimes, Sete and Avignon, these were all done as day trips. Left early and came back home in time for dinner. It had everything we needed , a comfortable bed , lovely clean small kitchen which had everything we needed to make our dinners and to sit outside with a wine out onto the courtyard with all Christine's beautiful plants and water feature surrounding us . We highly recommend this lovely french home with its cobble stone streets. If we get back to France we would love to stay again, next time for longer if it was possible. Thanks again Christine :-) ”
“Christina was a gracious host, and thought of everything possible to make the trip seamless and pleasurable, from a complete portfolio of "what to do in Montpellier", to home logistics. We had a wonderful time needless to say, with a short walk into Montpellier for anything and everything. The home is near a bakery where we had breakfast every single morning! The nightlife was also fun, and again - a short walk home, we did not even need to take the tram. Christina's home made it more pleasurable as we could relax privately in the morning before heading out, cook in when we wanted to, and plan our days using the numerous resources she had available to us Montpellier has so much to do, that we will be back to explore what we did not get to this time. ”
“Christines home is really central to the city 10 minute walk. Her home is very clean and tidy and comfortable. The property description was very accurate. Christine is very approachable and helpful with plenty of information for a swapper new to the area, and country. As Christine was my host I have had a wonderful holiday with her as my personal guide to all things famous and special about her area. I highly recommend a swap or points to enjoy all this area has to offer.”
“We visited the seaside town of Sete, quite a interesting harbour town, it does have some sandy beaches & if you are interested in art the Musee de Paul Varney is worth a visit. Pezenas is another town not far from Montpellier in the "historic" part of town are winding streets with several "Artistic shops" Carcassonne about 1-2 hrs west of Montpellier is well worth a visit, especially the fortified historic Cite of Carcassonne, very well preserved fortress with some interesting if but a bit touristy shops inside. Bayonne is worth a visit too, yummy chocolates. Nimes about 1 hr north-east is worth visiting, with Pont du Gard/Aquaduct & Amphitheatre. Saint Guilhem Le Desert a lovely village set in a valley, near here is 'Grotte de Clamouse' limestone caves, fantastic.”
“We stayed in Christine's small but comfortable and well located home recently. Christine couldn't have been more helpful with our planning and arrangements. She even assisted with advice about other countries we were visiting and this was extremely handy. On arrival we found all the information about the local facilities we could possibly need to plan our stay. Christine also left us some grocery items to tide us over until we did a proper shop. Her home is so close to the main centre of Montpelier, just a 5 min walk from the train station, buses and trams as well as lots of restaurants and bakeries. The little square around the corner where we often had a glass of wine in the evening was full of atmosphere (and the food is great too). The experience was very authentic and we really felt that we absorbed the local culture and way of life. We highly recommend Christine and her home if you are seeking a genuine french experience.”
“We really enjoyed swapping with Christine. She really went out of her way to be helpful and welcoming, pointing out from her first message anything she felt might be difficult for us to get used to, such as the heat in August. She let me know when the early booking opened for Eurostar. She even stayed to welcome us personally (at the station) and show us around her house, although the information provided with photos, maps and leaflets was extremely clear and thorough. We were also provided with some wonderful local specialities, as well as other more essential provisions, when we arrived. We all enjoyed ourselves equally, which is not always obvious on holiday with children. Montpellier offered us everything we'd been hoping for from a city by the coast and Christine's charming home was a wonderfully cool place to return to after a few hours in town or at the beach. We would be very happy to recommend a swap with Christine.”
“There aren't enough stars to describe the visit. First Christine was super friendly and organized. Her place is very very nice - a bit small but very well organized. Small backyard is gorgeous for a nice cup of coffee and croissants from the bakery down the block. She has a folder with all the information about things around town, free parking zone etc etc. Was surprised how fast the clothes dried on the line outside. Everything in the historic area is within a short walk. Found the best Gelato in the world - Padova close to the Chamber of Commerce. Her English is excellent too.”
“Trés bonne appréciation, je suis très satisfait”
“Christine is a lovely lady and she made sure I had everything onhand to enjoy my stay. Her home is very comfortable especially the interior courtyard where you can eat and relax in complete tranquility. 5 minutes walk from this tranquil house is all the buzz and excitment of pedestrian friendly Montpellier. Excellent home and location ”
“Christine was an absolute joy to host. We were at home during her stay, so we had the privilege of meeting her and getting to know one another a little bit - over morning coffee and evening drinks by the sea. She is 100% comfortable speaking both English and French, so communication was no problem at all, and she fitted in very smoothly with our family and friends. She also left the guest area of our house in perfect condition. I would recommend her as the ideal guest. In fact, more than that. We will definitely stay in touch.”

Neighbourhood
The neighbourhood has lately become one of the favored spots of street artists attracted by the change that the plantation of many climbers has made to the general aspect of its facades.
