We are a couple wishing to exchange our apartment in Montreuil (just outside Paris) for an apartment in New York. Approximately 1 month exchange in early 2008:
we need to be in NY from january 8th to february 8th (for work), but dates are flexible before and after this period (if you want to include Christmas or New Year in the swap period, it is fine...)
It is a quiet and bright apartment in a restored 5 storey brick-finished building surrounded by courtyards and gardens. Ideal for a couple. Can sleep 4.
Very fast access to the center of Paris by sbuway (~ 20 minutes)
It is a first floor, 45 sq.meters (480 sq.ft) apartment.
One bedroom (with double bed), one living room (with two sofa beds) and one small working room. Kitchen with table for 2 or 3. Bathroom is tiny but has a shower, toilet and sink.
Double glazed windows to the south and to the north. Wooden floor.
Lots of books (literature, history, philosophy and art), lots of CDs. Cable TV, DVD player. Computer with broadband wireless internet.
2 bicycles (we use them every day to go to the center of Paris)..
Very quiet residential neighborhood.
Many subways around, very fast access to the center of Paris:
lines n°1, n°9 and RER A. The closest station is 5 minutes away by walk (Station Vincennes, RER A). It will take you to the center of Paris (Les Halles) in less than 15 minutes.
All shops and commodities within walking distance.
The apartment is located on the border between the suburbs of Montreuil and Vincennes, just outside Paris (east side).
Montreuil is a multi ethnic area, with a growing population of artists. Lots of gardens and old factories.
Vincennes has a more bourgeois atmosphere and is home to the Bois de Vincennes park (which is almost three times bigger than Central Park in NY).
