About our home

We love our home! You won't find expensive design in our place but we like to have nice things, we enjoy our deco and the style we give to the place. It is a smoke free 80 square metres apartment (a large place for parisian standards) in the safe and typical quarter of the Buttes aux cailles area. Our flat is typically parisian with wooden floors, a fire place, natural light, broad band internet and a new elevator even though you don't really need it on the second floor. It can accomodate 4 people in the 3 bedrooms.

More about us

  1. We are a multicultural family of 3: Marcolino, 45, likes teaching, cycling, cooking and singing, Barbara, 43, loves photography and Bikram yoga. We are both secondary school teachers (History, English and Spanish).
We have set a nice goal: exploring and offering our Johanna (8 and already experienced traveller ; but allergic to cats) ) the opportunity to travel and share.

We fully appreciate the privilege to spend time in another persons' home and we are responsible and caring people who will respect your home as we would expect you to respect ours.
As urban people we love exploring cities, architecture, tasting good cuisine and photography but we also love the outdoors, canoeing, camping in the wild.
Though we consider ourselves experienced exchangers and friends with folks from Sweeden, Danemark, Holland, Belgium, Italy, England, Scotland and the US we are always eager to meet new people and places. Thanks for your interest!

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Our area is a village inside the city called la butte aux Cailles, it is safe and very authentic. If we travel in time this is the historical quarter of the Communards' revolution and the first successful human flight in the 16th century!
Today, the hill or "Butte" is a relaxed area dedicated to artists and gourmets

(sorry that's in french!)

Get here and you find wine stores, markets, gift shops, cafés and restaurants, international street art and galeries to discover.

Though we are very close to the center of the capital, the area is mostly pedestrian with very little noise pollution. You can reach the Luxembourg park, the typical rue mouffetard or Notre Dame by foot. We have the biggest farm market in paris 3 times a week in our street and the best boulangerie ever for fresh baguette or croissants. Another nice place is the swimming pool with natural water and art deco features:

There are car sharing services within a few minutes’ walk. Finally, and not least, the butte has an excellent bike-share system called "velib", with many stations throughout the area (and, indeed, the city) including two bike stations five minutes from the house. And, of course, our neighborhood is a wonderful place to simply walk.

If you don't feel like walking or cycling, use our metro station Corvisart on line n°6 that will take you to the Eiffel tower in 15mn and to all the museums and sites of the city in a few minutes...
Check out our station CORVISART on the green line next to "Place d'Italie":

Hey the Washington Post knows about our streets and area too, but hush!
