“We have just returned from a wonderful exchange with Marcolino and his family. It was our first visit to Paris and Marcolino's apartment is very well situated to visit all the city has to offer. Their place is clean, spacious, bright, and beautifully maintained and only a couple of blocks from the Metro and supermarket. The relationship and communication with Marcolino was easy from the offset. His brother met us with the keys and it was such a pleasant, welcoming experience (thank you Julian!). We both have young daughters so it was a particularly good exchange for us as there were toys and books available for playing. I would have no hesitation exchanging again in the future with Marcolino and family and would recommend him wholeheartedly as an exchange partner for others.”

About our home
We love our home! You won't find expensive design in our place but we like to have nice things, we enjoy our deco and the style we give to the place. It is a smoke free 80 square metres apartment (a large place for parisian standards) in the safe and typical quarter of the Buttes aux cailles area. Our flat is typically parisian with wooden floors, a fire place, natural light, broad band internet and a new elevator even though you don't really need it on the second floor. It can accomodate 4 people in the 3 bedrooms.

Marcolino's reviews
As a host (6)“We had a lovely stay in the area of Butte aux Caille the "new" hot area in Paris full of artist. Every bar and restaurant was very much a live every night even on Sundays but still far away to hear it from the apartment. The Boulangerie was very close and the grocery shopping and parks as well. If you want to go shopping and do the entire tourist stuff the apartment is not far away from Metro and for example the Marais area. The apartment is old and charming. It was also a bit small but for 2 adults and 2 kids it's just doing the job. Marcolino and Dorit were very friendly all the way doing the exchange.”
“With our 13 year old son we had the pleasure to stay at this very cozy, quiet and stylish appartment in an area with a fascinating historical background linked to the Paris commune in 1871; treasure overlooked by tourists. Very good and reliable communication with our hosts prior to the exchange and their friend Barbara was waiting with a fresh baguette to hand us the keys. Bottle of red wine with cheeses as welcome on the kitchen table was very much appriciated. The 'Butte' (one of the seven hills of Paris) with nice restaurants and bars is just 5 minutes; great bakery at the corner; 'China town' with exotic food close to the Place d'Italie. Good metro connentions from Place d'Italie e.g. to Le Marais and Place de la Bastille and Le Louvre. Even in COVID times we enjoyed our stay very much and thank Marcolino and family who also took good care of our place as we happily noticed upon our return. ”
Inma & Jose”
“We stayed at Marcelino\'s apartment in Paris in summer 2016. We loved it! Its beautifully decorated - very stylish, but cosy! There are lots of shops, wonderful restaurants and coffee places near by. The area is known for the street art which we loved to discover. We thought it is one of the best areas in Paris with lots of parks and playgrounds around. We just walked and wondered around the whole day and loved coming back home in the evening and relax in the beautiful house. Marcelino and his family have also taken good care of our house, so it sure was a very pleasant exchange! Merci!”
“We enjoyed a weeks stay in Marcolino and Barbara's apartment in the Summer of 2015. The apartment is nice and bright, no noise from traffic etc. The area "La Butte aux Cailles" is charming and interesting and we enjoyed spending time in the neighborhood with it's lively atmosphere. A great bakery and several supermarkets are close by and also a wonderful food market right on the next street 3 times a week! The nearest metro stations are only a short walk from the apartment, so you can easily reach all the attractions and different areas of the city. Our contact with Marcolino and family has been great, and they've been very kind and helpful with tips for Paris that fit our interests. We highly recommend doing an exchange with Marcolino and family if you want to visit Paris!”

Where is it?
Neighbourhood
Our area is a village inside the city called la butte aux Cailles, it is safe and very authentic. If we travel in time this is the historical quarter of the Communards' revolution and the first successful human flight in the 16th century!
Today, the hill or "Butte" is a relaxed area dedicated to artists and gourmets

(sorry that's in french!)
Get here and you find wine stores, markets, gift shops, cafés and restaurants, international street art and galeries to discover.
Though we are very close to the center of the capital, the area is mostly pedestrian with very little noise pollution. You can reach the Luxembourg park, the typical rue mouffetard or Notre Dame by foot. We have the biggest farm market in paris 3 times a week in our street and the best boulangerie ever for fresh baguette or croissants. Another nice place is the swimming pool with natural water and art deco features:

There are car sharing services within a few minutes’ walk. Finally, and not least, the butte has an excellent bike-share system called "velib", with many stations throughout the area (and, indeed, the city) including two bike stations five minutes from the house. And, of course, our neighborhood is a wonderful place to simply walk.

If you don't feel like walking or cycling, use our metro station Corvisart on line n°6 that will take you to the Eiffel tower in 15mn and to all the museums and sites of the city in a few minutes...
