About our home

We have our comfortable and quiet apartment in the center of Paris to propose for a swap. There are 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other one with 2 single beds one on top of the other, and an extra single bed quite easy to pull out if needed. The living room has a sofa for 3, a 70cm screen TV with DVD and 5.1 audio system (The wardrobe and the table are from the end of 18e s.). The kitchen is a very pleasant place to stand, as it opens on a pretty big "suspended" and quiet garden with trees and flowers (the garden is on the 1st floor and we are on the 2nd floor). Mainly the kitchen has all the equipment needed to cook like a pro. Also two persons can eat in the kitchen on the little bar. The toilets are apart from the bathroom which has both a bath and a shower (and a washing/dryer machine, brand new and most easy to use). During summer time our flat remains nicely cool as the whole building is made of freestone in the Haussmann style with thick walls, and that's what makes it quiet as well. The access of the building is quite safe with a digicode in the street, then an intercom in the hall. The flat is at the 2nd floor with elevator.

More about us

  1. We are Valérie and Etienne, a couple both involved in Video editing for various TV broadcasts. We have 2 girls (10 and 4 years old) who during summer time love the sea, castles made of sand and swimming. Instead of doing the usual way, we have decided to try HomeForExchange. We would like to go to Spain, maybe to discover the Costa Brava, but Portugal would be fine, for 15 days between july 15th and August 23rd, any suggestion??

Where is it?

We love this area of Paris first of all because it stands in the middle of everything, close to the place de la République, and close to the Marais (the medieval part of Paris). The Canal St Martin is 2mn away with a bicycle that you can rent just across the street, and you can then ride quite safely on the cycle tracks all along the Canal up to "the Cité des Sciences de la Villette". It's a beautiful ballad. On the other direction, still on the cycle track, you can ride down to Place de la Bastille, le port de l'Arsenal, l'île Saint Louis, lîle de la Cité, and Notre Dame. Otherwise the métro station (line 11) is right out the door, and 4 or 5 stations later (4 or 5') you'll get to Centre Georges Pompidou, Hôtel de Ville or Chatelet, in the heart of Paris. From there you'll have to make up your mind: a cruise in "bateaux mouche" on the Seine, a visit to Notre Dame or to the Louvre, les Tuileries, les Champs Elysées... or a visit at Disneyland (40' from Chatelet with RER A). In this quarter, you easily get everything you need, nice bread, fresh vegetables, cheese, supermarket, it's all there. And at night there are loads of great restaurants and trendy cafés just few steps away if you like the Parisian night life ...
