About our home

Our four-room apartment, 66 sq. meters, has hardwood floors, a balcony, moulures (fancy French carvings that border the ceiling) floor-to-ceiling windows so lots of light, and double glazing so it's not too noisy. There is high speed Internet access and the phone plan provides free international calls. The toilet and bathroom are separate, full bath and shower. The kitchen has a gas-stove and a full-sized fridge. There are two bedrooms but two futons as well, in the living room and study. It is well equipped for small children and we can bring out our materials for babies too-- changing table, crib, potty, etc .. It's on the 2nd floor (3rd floor U.S.) with a small elevator that just fits our stroller. No air conditioning; heat is reliable. Nothing luxurious, but simple and pleasant and a good base to explore Paris.

Paris 13e arrondisement. Parquet, moulures, bien equippe pour les tout-petits. Pas de climatisation. ADSL, appels internationals gratuit.

We are in a residential neighborhood in the 13th arrondisement, just southeast of the 5th arrondisement on the Left Bank. It has many playgrounds, cafes (now non-smoking!), and small shops (cheese, bread, pastries, wine, butcher, fishmonger) nearby. We are on the 14 Metro line, which comes every two minutes, and the 27 bus, which takes you to the Luxembourg Gardens and by the Louvre. Many families and young couples-- it's still a fairly inexpensive part of Paris. The Seine, the Bibliotheque Nationale, and the Parc de Bercy are a ten-minute walk.

We are an Anglo-American couple in our 30s, a math researcher and a high school teacher, with a 2-year-old son. We have been living in Paris for three years and are seeking 1-2 week exchanges in the northeastern U.S. and southern England during summers and school vacations, so that we can make more extended visits to our families.
