Our home is the old village Post Office and is well known by the locals; the road that leads to it is even named after it, so you should not ever have any trouble finding it. It is a couple of hundred years old, with high ceilings and old tiles aplenty. It has a "stepping back in time" quality - with modern bathrooms! Two of the bedrooms have double beds and en suite bathrooms, one bedroom has a single bed and an en suite and one bedroom has a single bed and no en suite. There is another bathroom on the ground floor and a sofa bed in one of the two living rooms.
The roof top terrace is our brand new addition and will be the perfect place to sit and sip and just enjoy the sunshine and the quiet.
Please note we do not own a television.
We have three children, two boys and one girl aged respectively 15, 13 and 11. We couchsurfed and hosted a fair bit while living in China and all loved it. Dad is French and mum is British or French, depending on how annoyed she is feeling towards either nationality on any given day. We have lived, worked, travelled our way around four continents and came to the South of France in 2009. This house is our 'taking a breather while the kids make their way through high school" home (it was our 19th move since getting married). On weekends we love to spend time going nowhere fast on our sailboat.
We do not have pets and cannot have them in the house due to extreme allergies. There are no feathers in any of our bedding or furniture for the same reasons.
Pouzolles is a very typical wine-makers' village, full of tractors, men and boys in caps, playing 'pétanque' under the old plane trees. The house is nestled at the foot of the pretty little chateau. There is a 'boulangerie' (bakery) at the bottom of our road and a great restaurant a little further down. We also enjoy the convenience of a small grocery store a mere 3 minute walk away. What we like most about it is the pace; it is quiet and slow and old-fashioned. The neighboring villages, country roads, very gentle slopes and lovely views provide wonderful opportunities to get on a bike and explore. Make sure you bring a bag along; my husband never manages to come back from a day of cycling without a new bottle of local wine to sample (you will pass a lot of wineries). He hasn't been disappointed yet - unfortunately!
