About our home

We offer a brand new house (finished April 27, 2009), in a cosy small French village. It is located close to the Swiss border and 15 min. away from Geneva airport (Switzerland). It is a two level 155 sqm house, with a small garden and a garage with direct access to the house. Our home is spacious and designed in a modern/Scandinavian style. It has a large gourmet kitchen with all modern kitchen utilities including a built-in coffee machine. We have an adjoining dining room that continues into the living room with a 43 inches LCD flat screen, with surround sound, DVD and AppleTV (has direct access to the internet). From the living room you have access to a small garden (291 sqm) with a terrace facing north-west with a view on the Jura mountains (perfect to relax and BBQ after a full day of activities). On the ground floor there is a guest toilet and a guest room with a queen-size bed and a private bathroom. On the second floor you will find the master bedroom with queen-size+ bed, a walk-in closet, private bathroom and a breathtaking view of the Mount Blanc. The second floor also has an office with computers and full access to the internet and a room for our one-year old son including a baby bed. We have two cars, and we would be willing to exchange our Chrysler Sebring convertible (automatic). We provide a comfortable and clean home with new Scandinavian style furniture. We take good care of our home as we will take care of yours.

More about us

  1. We are Troels and Susanne and our one-year old son, all Danish. We have lived near Geneva for 3 years now and have in particular enjoyed travelling in the region (Switzerland, France, Italy). We work as Finance Manager and HR Specialist, respectively. We have not done a home exchange before but would love to try it, both because it would be a great way to see another country as a resident, and also because we think it could be a good way of travelling with an infant. We would expect to arrange an exchange some time in advance, in order to get to know our fellow exchangers via email first to see how best we can facilitate their stay in our region.

Where is it?

Situated in a picturesque mountain area ideally placed for excursions into both the Swiss and the French Alps, which will grant you a magnificant vacation. We recommend: Geneva (15 min.) offers museums, cultural events, a variety of international and local cuisine and good shopping (so many watches, so little time!). You have the possibility of enjoying watersports on the Geneva lake while looking at the mountains and the Jet d'Eau- the world's tallest fountain (140m). Visit the French Alps and discover the "adventure village" Chamonix located at the foot of Mont Blanc (60 min.), and take the lift to 3,800m and enjoy a spectacular view of the highest European mountain. Montreux is called the Swiss Riviera, a magnet for the rich and famous, at the other end of Lake Geneva (45 min.). If you travel further into Switzerland, you can visit the picture-postcard pre-Alps village Gruyeres (60 min.), home of the famous Swiss cheese, or the charming capital of Switzerland Bern (90 min.). If you want to take a 2-day trip into Switzerland, you can reach Interlaken, one of the adventure-sports capitals of the world and the village Zermatt, where the famous mountain Matterhorn can be admired. If you prefer relaxing with some French culture and world class wine, you can drive to Burgundy (2 hours) and visit wine estates and great restaurants. Finally, we also recommend visiting Italy by driving through the Mont Blanc tunnel and see the beautiful and charming Val d'Aosta region (75 min.).
