About our home

Our bungalow was built in 2007 to our specifications. It sits on a plot of land that dominates a new housing estate. It has 4 bedrooms with built-in cupboards; the master has an en-suite shower room. The family bathroom has separate shower & bath units. All rooms are a decent size, and the spacious living area could accomodate yet more guests if need be. The lounge provides space enough for socialising with a full-size pool table (made in town) and a contemporary fireplace (that we only use from Nov-March)! There's also a widescreen HD TV with Sky+HD box for UK tv, sports & movies in english. It gives onto 2 different patios - one tiled and shaded, the other an open decking area. Both patios overlook the spacious garden. The large fitted kitchen features all electric mod cons. There's also an utility room adjacent to the kitchen (with wash machine & tumble dryer), that connects with the garage. The 4th spare bedroom doubles up as kids' video-games-room. Wi-Fi access also available.

More about us

We are Debbie and Andrew, a British couple living in SW France with our girls Sophie & Claire ending their primary education. Andrew is a retired serviceman (now a paramedic), and Debbie is a nursery nurse. Our young family fully enjoys our cozy outdoor lifestyle. Our neighbours' wife speaks english (she teaches it!) and knows about most things going on round here! We would also be able to provide much information about things to see and do in the region (for all ages & tastes). We could also negociate for use of our run-around car (2003 Ford Ka). Health & safety conscious, we keep our house clean & tidy. Debbie is very house proud and would not let anybody in without prior inspection! We would treat other people's property as our own, and could take care of pets if necessary (we have a Colley)...

Where is it?

We are 4km to the north of REVEL, a charming rural town 50km east of Toulouse. It's been famous for cabinet-making since early 19th century. It's more commonly known for its belfry and market place that charm everybody (one of France's 100 greatest detours! - check the Michelin Guide). Also adored by nature-lovers for its landscaped lake, devised in 1660 to provide water for the fabled "canal du midi". Situated an hour's drive from either Toulouse or Carcassonne airports, Revel's location provides access to many diverse cultural, natural, and historical places of interest. Take a barge trip or cycle along the canal. Visit of the Citadel in Carcassonne is a must-do! Or drive around the vineyards of Limoux - or spend a day at France's best safari park on the coast at Sigean (90mins way). Most activities are well within an hour's drive away. There's something for everyone in this rural retreat that will satisfy that search for the French dream... July & Aug temps average the 35°c. It's hot & sunny round here from May to Sept inc.
