About our home

Château de Ribagnac was built around 1490 and we have fully renovated it and now run it as a chambres d'hôtes. It is a country retreat with style and you can swap either a stay in one of our Suites or several, depending on your requirements. Staying at the Chateau is on a bed & breakfast basis or with dinner as well, depending on how you would like to stay. We also have self catering cottages available if you prefer. You can also combine self catering & a stay in the chateau. The countryside has lakes, forests and rolling hills, dotted with ancient churches and castles. It's an area great for families and has plenty of interest for couples and it's easy to find a romantic spot. Limoges is famous for porcelain, stained glass & enamel. It's a hidden gem where people are friendly and you're never far from an excellent meal & delicious glass of wine. We frequently host family reunions and special celebratory events and would be happy to do so as part of a swap too.
Please note that for a points swap, we will adjust the number of points required in accordance with how many rooms you would like or if you choose a cottage. We have two two bedroom cottages and one three bedroom cottage.
Please note that the Chateau is in the countryside, with beautiful views and quiet - birdsong during the days and the hoot of owls at night. We are only 5 minutes by car from the nearest small town and 25 minutes from the region's fascinating capital, Limoges. To get the most out of the area - there is lots to do & see - you need a car.
We also have a one bed room apartment in the 9th in Paris with a lovely balcony which is sometimes available to swap. The flat is on the fifth floor, so has a great view, but lots of stairs!

Neighbourhood

The Chateau is set in grounds of 86 hectares and has lovely views. We are in the countryside, but within easy reach of Limoges (25 minutes) which is famous for porcelain and has plenty of good shopping and restaurants. We are 5 minutes from the nearest small town (Ambazac) and 15 minutes from the world heritage site St Leonard de Noblat which is on the pilgrimage La route de Compostella. There are plenty of things to do and see in our area - we are happy to help you plan your days out.
You will need a car for your visit.

Buzzy restaurants
The Limousin is famous for beef, lamb & free range pork; there are lots of lovely country restaurants that use the freshest ingredients; if you want sophistication then head for Limoges where it's hard to decide, but we'll be happy to recommend & book for you.
Cool bars
The best place to enjoy a glass of wine is in front of the Chateau or in our 36 hectares of parkland.
Cozy cafés
St Leonard de Noblat has the best patisseries ever! The coffee is just an excuse to eat a fantastic cake!
Retail therapy
Limoges has lots of small boutiques (as well as the usual shops) and a wander around the rue de la boucherie will discover antique shops, porcelain, jewellery as well as chocolate!
Bit of culture
You can see medievel castles, the fabulous porcelain museum the Beaux Arts museum (housed in the bishop's palace) the cathedral or the Second World War museum & Oradour sur Glane
Walks in the park
From the Chateau there are lovely marked walks that take you down to the river...or enjoy the heights of th famous Monts d'Ambazac; we are also just off the route de Compostella;
Spot of exercise
Cyclying is big here! Water sports are available on many of the goregous lakes in the are. Or if you're feeling adventurous there's riding or the velorail!
Day tripping
The Lac Vassivere is an impressive sight and has a water taxi, beaches and an island with an art gallery. Parc du Reynou is also a must, with animals in huge enclosures in a beautiful setting. There are some of the most beautiful villages in France in our area to visit;
