“We have just returned from a lovely week at Marion and Xavier's flat in Rouen. As well as a fabulous view from this top story apartment, we were able to discover the region, its history and its beauty. Rouen is a beautiful city, with amazing architecture. We were also very lucky with the weather, but despite the occasional October rain shower we visited Bayeux, Honfleur, Deauville-Trouville and I think our favorite, Juno Beach (the museum is not to be missed). Of course, we visited the distilleries of the area (cider and Calvados) and we've brought home some lovely souvenirs! If you're interested in history and beautiful countryside, Rouen is probably an excellent choice. Marion and Xavier were very confident exchangers and everything went very smoothly.”
Marion's reviewsAs a host (2)
“We had a delightful time in this apartment overlooking Rouen. The hosts were very helpful before and during our exchange. We enjoyed a delightful dinner with them at the beginning of the exchange. The home is convenient in every way, comfortable and spacious. The view out over the city is breathtaking and ever changing. We very much enjoyed this little gem of a city and also traveled out to Normandy, Honfleur and Giverny. The countryside is attractive and varied. Perfect base for enjoying this part of France, and close enough to Paris for a day trip by train!”
Where is it?
Rouen is a lovely historical town with the cathedral painted by Monet. You have many pedestrian streets in the center where you can easily walk and visit monuments, museums and churches. There are typical wooden houses. There is a market each week where you can buy french product. There are restaurants, terraces just in front of the cathedral. Rouen is a good place to start visiting Normandy: Deauville, cliffs of etretat, Giverny and the house of monet, beaches of the D Day, honfleur, Le Havre, Fécamp. Normandy is full of beautiful landscapes. You can reach Paris by train in 1h10 minutes. The Mont saint Michel is at two hours driving from rouen and Champagne at 3 hours. Moreover, if you like golfing, there are 4 wonderful golfs around the town and 7 others if you drive longer. Near by also a great horse riding club where you can borrow horses and ride through the forest until Abbaye de Jumièges.
