About our home

We've been working a lot since we moved in to make our home as cosy and comfortable as possible. We brought back from Scandinavia the taste of smooth lights and we managed to mix it with the french way of living.. The market place on saturday morning, after which you cook a nice meal in a kitchen painted with colours from the South of France. The bedroom is located upstairs and the wooden floor makes it really welcoming. Downstairs, the living room has really nice leather seats and you can spend the rest of the day chilling down, reading your newspapers while listening to nice music. One of the rooms we love the most is probably the bathroom. The walls are made of wood, there are a lot of plants, candles, a huge bathtub and a 18th century ceiling. On the walls, we put paintings, mainly contemporary art and pictures we made when travelling.

More about us

  1. We are a young couple: Julien and Cécile. Cécile is working in a public organisation, trying to connect cities between each other to create new economic dynamics. Julien created a bike messenger company in 2007 in Saint-Etienne and Lyon. We both want to visit Amsterdam since many years. we want now to chill out and ride our bikes along the canals!! If you decide to exchange your house with ours, we'll make our best to make your stay pleasant and provide you all the informations you might need.

Where is it?

Saint-Etienne is a very nice city, located in the South East of France, one hour far from Lyon and 2h30 far from Paris or Marseille, by train. It's not a big city but it makes it even more lively because people from here have the reputation to be really welcoming in France. There is a "village" way of living in a big city: you know your baker very well, as well as the wine saler who knows which kind of wine you like. But it's also a place where you can go out at night, to eat in a nice restaurant, have a drink in a café or just party if you feel like. One of the reason why people like Saint-Etienne is probably for its natural environment. It is surrounded by seven hills (like Rome!!) and a mountain called Pilat. You can do mountainbiking, horse riding, hiking or just napping.. In winter, you can go skiing too. One hour far from here, in Haute-Loire, we built a log cabin, according to a norwegian method a friend of us taught us. This is the perfect place to be if you need to relax, to forget about a stressful life. No water, no electricity, everything is lightened with candles. You can find anything you need here and you can mix everything in order to make your staying here unforgettable!!
