About our home

Our home is ideally situated on the outskirts of Paris, in historic Saint Germain en Laye. A fast suburban RER train will take you right to the Arc de Triomphe in 20 minutes. The line then connects with the Metro network and will take you anywhere you want in Paris. The house was built around 1910. It features a double living room, five bedrooms (including the master bedroom and its dedicated bathroom) and a full basement with a playroom (and an extra bedroom). There are 2 full baths plus a shower in the basement. Most of the house was renovated 4 years ago. We also have a small garden where you can enjoy outside meals.

More about us

  1. We are a family of six: Patrick (48), Adeline (45), Quentin (19), Raphaëlle (17), Alexis (14) and Juliette (10). Patrick works in an industrial group and Adeline in corporate banking. We have already traveled quite a little and have lived for 5 years in the US. We love the outdoors as well as cultural activites. In Austria and Switzerland, we are only looking for houses (chalets. No appartments) in the Alps, or possibly a place in Wien or Salzburg. We also own a little fisherman's house on an island off the Atlantic coast, south of Brittany, called Ile d'Yeu (see homeID 39853). This house (which has been fully renovated over the past 6 years) is also available for an exchange, combined with our main Paris home or separately. It is a great place for a family which enjoys a way of life close to nature: the island is still quite wild, we have no car there and like many people only move around by bike. It has plenty of different beaches, all within 1/2 to 4 miles of our home.

Neighbourhood

Saint Germain en Laye lies 15mi west of Paris. Once a royal city (Louis the XIV was born in the Chateau de Saint Germain) it combines the charm of a historical city and the liveliness of a place that offers more local stores than any other city in the western suburbs. The city is also known for its international flair due to the presence of a well known international school that attracts families from many countries. It offers a wide choice of activities: olympic swimming pool, museums, restaurants and last but not least, the city is nested in a 7. 000 acres wide forest that is only 5mn away from our home by bike. So after (or as an alternative to) an interesting but hustling day in Paris, you can enjoy the pleasure of a quiet walk in the chateau's park or in the forest, followed by drinks in the garden and a dinner on an outside terrace in one of the local restaurants. Please check http://www.ville-st-germain-en-laye.fr/ (don't miss the video section). Saint Germain en Laye is also 20mn away from Versailles by car or bus.
