About our home

Modern Provencal villa set in peaceful olive tree lined valley. Three double bedrooms, one children's room with four bunkbeds, all ensuite. Open plan living/dining room with granite/wood kitchen, all new appliances. Huge terrace area with gazebo, furnished with high quality outdoor furniture and traditional French barbecue. charcoal-burning fireplace complete with chimney. Lunching outside, even in Winter, is often possible in the temperate climate of the South of France. Infinity-edge mosaic-tiled pool all in maintained garden with views down to the sea at Cannes. This is a house that is easy to live in, three sliding doors open onto the terrace from the main room, as do the French doors in the master bedroom and children's room. It has under-floor heating, an ice maker in the American fridge, Ipod connector cable ready in the stereo. The television receives all BBC channels, all ITV channels, Sky news, CNN etc. Unfortunately we cannot get French television. There is a DVD player and a second television in the master bedroom. As part of a secure neighbourhood, you can only enter via an automatically-locking gate. Although the garage is locked there is ample parking for two cars. After much looking I finally found what I believe is pretty near the perfect second home for our family, simple but comfortable and just what I imagined a home in the South of France should be - and NOT three hours from the airport at Nice. Hope you like it too! please note that the house is not available for exchange from June to August each year.

More about us

  1. We are retired, an American and a Brit. We have, between us six children and mine live in London and Sydney...which is why we want to houseswap. My daughter and her husband have made their home in Sydney and she recently had her first baby which is why we want to houseswap for this Christmas. One thing that has changed here is that my daughter's purchase of a bigger house means that we now need a place at the beach or at least close to, so that we (four and baby) can get out of Sydney for a while.....We like Noosa but ANYWHERE within a short flight or drive of Sydney that fits the beach description is good. And we will not need it for the whole of this period but certainly for the period between Christmas and New Year! We are non-smokers and I am very houseproud, our house here in Atlanta is full of art, oriental carpets, antiques and other valuable objects and we would certainly look after your house as we would our own. A swap of the Atlanta house is something we could talk about if it is more intersting to potential swappers than our second home in Grasse.

Where is it?

This area is known for its' beauty as you will know if you are a fan of the French Impressionists! Artists still love to paint here- you will find their studios as you stroll the cobbled streets on your way to a romantic lunch or dinner. Find the markets in those hilltop villages that surround you, shop for local delicacies, antiques, linens, and seasonal items. Behind you are the foothills of the Alps, criss-crossed with little roads between the villages. Don't forget the camera! Grasse, the famous perfume town is on your doorstep. You can tour the factories, and even get a perfume designed especially for you! Cannes, of film festival fame, is 20 mins away. Find haute-couture along the promenade, more affordable temptation in the street behind! Monaco and its' Casino is an hour away, Italy maybe 15 mins. more. One of the most famous restaurants in France is your neighbour, La Bastide de St. Antoine- lunch is always a better deal! Cooking at home? Auchan, 10 mins away, has unrivalled fresh fish, cheeses etc and sexy designer lingerie at supermarket prices! Sounds too much like hard work? Picard, the French hostess's secret weapon, is on your street corner. It sells unbelievable 'haute-cuisine' frozen food -hors d'oeuvres to desert- it's all there. Grab a baguette from the corner bakery and a bag of mesclun from Casino (the local, very good, supermarket) and you're ready to enjoy the peace of your own French villa and your own private valley!
