About our home

We live in a spacious old house which was built in the eighteenth century. Our house is entirely modernised inside and combines modern facilities so it is an extremely comfortable and large family home. It overlooks a lovely pond. We have a front garden, pleasant and hot in summer, and a shady garden at the back. Trees, benches, tables in both gardens. On the ground floor: a kitchen very professionnal, a large bright dining room with a fireplace and a spare room for computer, piano, music and books. On the first floor 3 double bedrooms, one single bedroom, 2 bathrooms and 1 shower room with toilets. All the rooms have their own character and a view over the pond. Upstairs leads to an extra large room for kids (toys, games and books). Also 1 infrared sauna for 4. A big swimming pool 5 mm by bike. Our house will surprise you !

Where is it?

Our house is on the hedge of a small town Saint-Lo (1 km from centre) in a beautiful and quiet area called Commune Libre du Hutrel. We are located in the center of Lower Normandy, land fashioned by history, from William the Conqueror to World War II. Here you will discover the rich variety of the ancient French province just across the Channel. Slip from one world to another in the space of few hours. One day you can be deep in the country and the next you are on the beaches. You will explore Normandy’s fine cities (Bayeux, Caen, Coutances…), picturesque ports (Granville, Cherbourg) or « most beautiful villages in France : Barfleur, le Bec Hellouin… . Of course you will have to visit the eternal beauty of Mont-Saint-Michel, contemplate the sea buffeting the Cap de la Hague or the mighty lighthouse at Goury. Normandy is rich in medieval remains, abbeys and castles, history and tradition, so you will enjoy the UNESCO-listed Bayeux Tapestry, unique record of the events of 1066 (only 30 kms away from our house). And of course, Normandy is a garden of Eden with the archetypal Norman countryside of hedge-framed meadows, quiet rivers and exquisite pretty villages. Here scenery changes constantly according to the light.

Normandy is truly a food lover’s paradise for visitors seeking the authentic culinary food. There are many local specialities just stroll through the local markets.
