About our home
Our house is a traditional Normandy "chaumiere", with a garden filled with apple trees. The house borders farmland in Saint-Riquier-ès-Plains in the Seine-Maritime department in the Haute-Normandie region in northern France.
It is a ten minute drive from the sea, about 40 minutes to Dieppe and to Rouen and an hour from Honfleur. Etretat is about an hour away, and Monet's Garden at Giverny around an hour and a half. You could do the Normandy beaches in a day trip.
There's a big log fire in the living room, a couple of showers/toilets, and three bedrooms upstairs.
No cable TV, but we have hundreds and hundreds of DVDs of all types.
Two of the bedrooms are double beds, and the other has two single beds, suitable for children.
We have holidayed here with our family for over ten years, and find it the most peaceful place on earth. Largely, that's because there is no internet - a conscious choice.
Perfect for a week or two away, or even a long weekend.
A very nice woman comes to clean the house, and charges us EUR130 each time. I can either ask her to come and prepare the house beforehand - cleaning, turning hot water on, putting bedsheets on the bed etc. - and clean up afterwards. But if you are happy to do that, there's no need to pay.

David's reviews
As a host (6)“A beautiful property. Many thanks David.”
“Our first time in a thatched cottage of this age. Very rustic and earthy as you would expect. We had a great time and the location of the cottage is excellent to explore the Normandy area. Great cafes and restaurants nearby by car. Thanks David for allowing us to stay.”
“Coming from Australia we found the little village wonderful and the home was lovely and very comfortable. Located in great area for day trips or just to picnic at the sea side. We loved our stay and hope one day to return for a longer holiday. Cheers - Debra”
“My family and I had a very pleasant stay at David's quaint gite in Normandy. Communication with David was very efficient - we organised the trip at the last minute and it all worked out very well indeed. There was plenty of room for the kids to play. Everything worked. It is in a really pretty rural setting and neighbourhood only a few minutes from the sea and the local town. It was a very tranquil and restful holiday.”
“We had a lovely time in David's home for Easter weekend. The house was as rustic and cozy as expected, a short drive (”
