About our home

This is our guest house attached to our main house which is a 200 year old Perigourdine farmhouse. This part of our home was built when the old farmhouse was extended to create a larger dwelling in 1970.
Our house is situated in the village of La Rouquette and is only 3 km from the bastide town of Ste Foy la Grande. It is in the middle of our land which is a mix of pasture and ancient woodland covering an area 25 acre (10 hectare), our 2 Labradors love it.
The guest house comprises a large living from that opens out onto the south facing terrace and swimming pool. Also on the ground floor is a large bedroom, bathroom, separate toilet, and fully fitted kitchen. Upstairs there are 2 further bedrooms, one double and one single (very prettily fitted out for our granddaughter).
Outside there is a large terrace and shaded lawn area (mulberry trees), barns and garages and lots of parking. There is a pond used mainly by our 15 ducks but occasionally by our dogs!

More about us

  1. We are a retired couple and have lived in France for the last few years. We enjoy travel in particularly skiing but also sailing, golf, walking and simply enjoying beautiful scenery.
As this our guest house we can easily exchange homes with people who also have second homes for exchange and where matching dates is not essential.

Where is it?

The Dordogne river which flows from the Massif Central to Bordeaux is a little over 1 km away. The area is dominated by vineyards, apple, kiwi fruit and plum farms. Our pretty village of La Rouquette is a quiet and tranquil location but close to all major amenities. Canoeing is available on the river throughout the summer months. Also available is tennis, biking and golf at the delightful Chateau des Vigiers golf and country club
Ste Foy la Grande is a pretty Bastide town with a massive market each Saturday morning sell a huge range of local produce as well as cafe's and restaurants to suit all tastes.
There are host of other interesting towns and villages throughout the region including Bergerac, Sarlat, Ste Emilion and Bordeaux, to name just a few.
It would remiss of me not to mention the wines. We are on the border of the Bergerac and Bordeaux appellations. The range and variety is enormous with tasting available at most of farms and Chateau's throughout the region.
This is a stunning beautiful area, one worth a visit.
