About our home

We've just moved in this beautiful luminous contemporary house, and feel that this is close to heaven ! The house was designed by a local architect, and built in 2003 on a 800 m² piece of land (approx. 9,000 sq.ft.), on the edge of a maritime pinetree forest, so typical of our region. The house is located in a very quiet alley, along with around 30 other houses. This is a family-friendly environment, with kids playing in the dead-end street on sunny days. This is a very quiet neighbourhood, eventhough the house is located in the heart of the village. The house is 170 m² (~ 1,900 sq.ft.), on two levels, and features 3 bedrooms: one master bedroom with en-suite large bathroom (with shower and bath tub facing the garden !), one duplex-bedroom with a queen size futon-type bed, and one regular bedroom with twin beds. The house also features an office (with fax-copying machine), a living room (with a convertible couch) with a fireplace, a large fully equipped kitchen (with dishwasher, electric oven, microwave oven), and a second bathroom. Please note that we would expect our guest not to smoke inside the house. The house is equipped with a 42'' flat-screen TV (with HD Internet-TV service), Stereo Hi-Fi, DVD-player with home cinema sound system, and a washing machine. Our large garden faces the forest and is a relaxing heaven. Large wood decks on the garden side will allow you to comfortably relax and eat outside, in a beautiful environment.

More about us

  1. I am a single dad, non smoker, 44 years old, and proud father of a 14 years old son. I am an engineer in industrial risk control, working for an insurance company in France. I am also a part-time actor doing some short films and getting involved in stage plays and movies as much as time and opportunities allow... I have lived in the US for 2 years in the early 90's (in Oregon and in Ohio). That's when I got to practice my english for good. We've had several successful home exchange experiences so far, with families from Iceland (just the most amazing place on earth!), Montreal (Canada), and LA, and loved it. These are among the best vacations of our life. We immediately became addicted to this way of travelling, and would like to do it again ! I want to assure you that we are very careful people, very respectful of other people's property. Of course, we would expect the same in return. Feel free to contact us !
Please note that we have a very nice female cat, and we would expect our fellow exchangers to take care of her.
We are looking for a European exchange during Easter Holidays (April), preferably in London. For summer 2012, we'd love to find a exchange in July with a family in the USA (preferably New York or Boston areas, Carolinas, Pacific NW or LA / San Diego), Costa Rica or Japan. But we are open to all offers, and will answer all inquiries !

Where is it?

We live in the beautiful south-western region of France, near the city of BAYONNE. Our house is located in a charming village called SEIGNOSSE, approx. 3,000 people, located some 20miles North of Bayonne. This is a truly nature-oriented region, known as France's surfers heaven. Our house is only 3 miles from the wild atlantic coast beaches (a mere 5-min drive). But do remember that the Atlantic ocean is wild and strong and the waves can be quite powerfull in the area. Keep cautious when swimming. The Pyrenees mountains are a short drive away should you wish to hike or refresh in altitude. There are lots of pine forests in the area for long strolls in the shade. There are also miles of biking trails along the coast ! Biarritz is only 25 miles South, and the fabulous city of Bordeaux is a 1h30 drive. If you want to head further south, Spain is less than one hour away from here, and you can easily discover San Sebastian or Bilbao on day-trips.
