Our home is a lovely four bedroomed, spacious family house with terraces downstairs on to the garden, and upstairs off the lounge. An open plan downstairs area features the kitchen, dining room area, a study, a toilet and a laundry room. A deck designed for al fresco dining leads on to the garden.
Upstairs on the first floor, is our living room with a separate children's play area with another large decking (sun trap!) overlooking the garden. Perfect for your coffee and croissant first thing! Two bedrooms are on the first floor, along with a large bathroom with a free standing bath and a walk in shower. The second floor has two further bedrooms and a bathroom.
The garden has a "roulotte" - a children's gypsy caravan, a child's slide, a small trampoline, a shaded seat underneath a pergola, deckchairs and sun loungers, two trees for shade and a veggie patch. A ping pong table is also on the side of the house, next to the off street parking. In the summer we have an inflatable pool. We have a large selection of children's toys plus two adult bicycles and one child bicycle which you could borrow.
We live in a quiet, friendly, residential neighbourhood called Casselardit five minutes from Toulouse city centre. Local amenities such as the bakery and fruit and vegetable shop are a short walk away and the local market is about 1km from the house. A chiildren's play park and a traditional french "boules" court are just around the corner from the house.
We are a very short walk from the newly installed tramway taking you around Toulouse and bus and metro services will take you anywhere you want to go. Toulouse is full of shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, museums, parks, theatres and shows. It is one of the largest student cities in France so it always has something going on. We say it is small enough but big enough, ie. small enough to get around easily but big enough to always have something going on.
Outside Toulouse, whether it's skiing or beach you love, neither is far away! Just over one hour from our door, you can get to numerous ski resorts. Ax-Les-Thermes is one of our favourites, along with the spa town of Luchon. The Pyrenees are smaller and more intimate than the Alps, also cheaper! The ranges offer skiing for beginners through to pros and it is such a delight to leave the house and be on the mountains the same morning! We try to go several times a year and book the ski school for our daughter. Many ski resorts have thermal spas, some of which accept children.
For beach action, you can visit Narbonne, Guisson and Perpignan for Mediterranean ocean. Warm seas, family friendly resorts about an hour and half from Toulouse.
For day trips you are spoilt for choice! The famous wine regions of Gaillac, Albi's famous cathedral, walking in the Pyrenees, the religious city of Lourdes, Foix, Tarbes, Pau or even closer, the Forest of Bouconne, numerous lakes and parks. In the summer, there is a double Olympic size outdoor swimming pool a few minutes away, lots of parks and lakes to swim in. The Canal du Midi is perfect for a bicycle ride and picnic or just lounge lazily by the River Garonne.
