About our home

Practical family home 25 minutes by car from the centre of Toulouse on a calm estate in a lovely, typical village. Large lounge/diner with access to patio, pool and garden. Small open kitchen on to dining room. 1 bedroom with double bed (carpet). 1 bedroom with cot (parquet). 1 bedroom/office with comfortable double sofa bed (carpet). 1 bedroom with single bed (parquet). There is room to park three cars on the property. The garage is used as a store room/pantry and therefore no room for a car!! We have two children under the age of three and all the toys indoor and out that go with it. These can be put out of sight or left for your children’s enjoyment as required. Part of the garden is orientated towards children with playhouse, see-saw, sand-pit, mini-pool, children’s tricycles. You may use our bikes that are kitted out with removable baby seats. We can leave you the keys for our Nissan Estate.

More about us

  1. He’s an Engineer and I’m an ex-HR Manager converted into full-time Mum at Home! Most importantly we are a bilingual, double culture family. My husband is French and I am English and our boys are Toulousain but bilingual! We are therefore VERY open-minded and have left our house to strangers in the past thus creating new friends and travel opportunities for the future. Consequently our CDs, DVDs, Books and travel info guides are in a mixture of both languages AND for those Brits who want to come…we have a satellite system that picks up ITV 1-4 and BBC 1-4 and CBEEBIES!! In 2002 we gave up our jobs and travelled the world for three months back-packs and all. We are now looking for a more child friendly and of course economical way of continuing. Initially we are looking for exchanges in Europe (that we could drive to or get a cheap flight to) and at the moment hope to exchange during October School Holidays (22/10 –2/11) for somewhere still warm enough to have a picnic on the beach (southern Spain, Côte d’Azur, Canaries, etc. ) We often visit parents in UK and Brittany for long weekends or weeks at a time and would be happy to have “squatters” while we are there or elsewhere…we would come to you at another time! AND we are also VERY interested in long weekends in other regions in France. Information disponible en français sur demande. N'hésitez pas à nous contacter pour des weekends de 2/3 nuits!!

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Our village is situated in the Lauragais area to the South - East of Toulouse. It takes 25 minutes to drive to Toulouse centre. The village itself has a small shop/bakery and a pizza takeaway. There is a market twice a week. Above all the village has it's own lake which is a three minute walk from the house and a nice 45 minute stroll there, round and back (no swimming but lots of ducks for the little ones to feed!) There is a park in the village for kids. We are nicely placed to visit a lot of the famous places (approx driving times) such as Albi (45 mins), Carcassonne (55 mins), Narbonne Beach (1H20), Ax-les Thermes (1H40 – nearest ski resort/spa). Places like Roquemadour, Cahors, The Dordogne Region can easily be visited if you get up early or fancied a little weekend away! The area is dotted with lovely little villages, that are not necessarily on the tourist map! Before our kids came along we were away nearly every weekend and have collected loads of leaflets and guides in French and English. We love visiting the local area and sampling local produce and can leave you loads of ideas for half days out, days out, days in the rain, days with kids, etc.
