About our home

We offer an ancient house (built in 1832) with outstanding architecture and interior design that we recently fully renewed with all comfort. On the ground flour is a large dining room orientated east with an impressive semi-circular bay-window and a lounge room orientated east and south, also with large windows, both with direct access to the garden/terrace. The kitchen, fully equipped, is situated in a sort of mezzanine overlooking the dining room that has a very high wooden ceiling (3.50 m height). On the first floor is a very large parental bedroom with its private bathroom and study. Located in the central part of the house it has an impressive apparent wooden frame and large roof windows. Also on the first floor but in the "tower part" is our young children bedroom with baby bed (a standard single bed can be added) and a large bathroom with both a bath tub and a shower. On the second floor there are three bedrooms each with single bed. Two of them have an outstanding wooden frame of 1832 and the third has a mezzanine. There are also two separate toilets, a separate laundry room with washing machine and dryer, and a basement with a wine cellar for fine bottles of French wine! The house overlooks a park and therefore is very quiet both during day and night. The sun baths the garden on the east and the terrace on the south and fills the house with daylight. It offers as well two parking spots in the northern part of the garden. The property is fenced and secured with alarm.

More about us

  1. We are Frédérique and Didier, a married couple with three teenagers and a smaller child (Maxime is only 18 months of age). Felix, the eldest, was born in Australia nearly 18 years ago and that's why we so much want to go there for him to discover his birth country. Both of us are professionals (engineer and journalist) and enjoy travelling, whenever possible, our own way meaning we do not appreciate the "travel agencies catalogue way" of travelling. Usually we spend the summer holidays with the whole family in a house on the French Atlantic coast. This year we decided to find a way to have our children discover the joys of travelling, but, with a family of six (add Gaston (16) and Ariane (14) to the above mentioned), including a young child, this is not easy outside the usual and boring "resorts routes". So we want to give a try to home exchange. This sounds a great way to see another country as a resident, enjoy a nice summer holidays with the family, and pass on to our children our love for the discovery of a foreign country!
We also would very much like to have another couple/family discover the Paris region that we know so well for we have lived here since we were born, and enjoy our beloved house that is a haven of peace in this agitated and crowded area. We would be keen on preparing with you this trip to our home place and provide you with every possible advises and suggestions.

Where is it?

Located in the centre of Versailles, our home is ideally situated as a tourism base to discover Paris and its region and enjoy a spacious house in a quiet residential neighbourhood. A whole week wouldn't be enough to discover the famous Parc de Versailles designed by Le Nôtre for King Louis 14, a few hundred meters away from the house, and its marvels (Trianon, Hameau de la Reine, Bassin de Neptune, Orangerie...) or of course the world's famous château de Versailles. The city of Versailles offers what we French call provincial comfort and gentleness only fifteen minutes away from Paris centre. Many shops, markets and typical restaurants are at a walking distance, specially the famous restaurant "Les Trois Marches" (Best rating in Michelin Guide). Versailles offers also the advantage of having 3 different train stations with lines going directly in 3 different locations in the centre of Paris and connected to the underground. The stations are at a 10 to 15 min walk from our home and the average train trip is 15 min to Paris centre. You can therefore enjoy a 1/2 hour easy access to every Paris attraction. Versailles is also ideally situated for an easy access by road to the "chateaux d' Ile de France" (St Germain, Vaux le Vicomte, Fontainebleau, Rambouillet...) and the "châteaux de la Loire" (Chambord, Chenonceau, Azay le Rideau...) that are only a 2 hours drive away. Sport facilities are also available in the neighbourhood (swimming pool, tennis, fitness centre, horse riding).
