About our home

Our southeast Corsica home is quite lovely with unusual items collected from our travels, especially the handmade rugs and textiles which hold a fascination for me. Our home is harmonious and comfortable, set in a green, tranquil, natural corner of a very popular village which, altho only a 5 minute walk from our house, has a wealth of amenities: excellent bakery, post office, mid-sized supermarket, butcher, ATM. We have the added advantage of being within a 5 minute drive of beautiful Pinarello beach and 10 minutes from the Cavu mountain stream which is beautiful any time of year. The nearest town is only 15 minutes away - with a charming 'old town' and an active commercial area with shops of all kinds.

Corsica is a sporting island. Not much in the way of discos and nightlife, but exquisite beaches for strolling, mountain walks, quads, horses and nature with a capital N. We moved here because of the astonishing beauty.

More about us

  1. Gordon is British (N. Yorkshire)and I am American (Iowa born and bred). We have lived all over the world but chose this dream island as our retirement home. Gordon worked for a multi-national company and is a keen cyclist and kayaker and I have been primarily an editor and about 15 other things in my life but also find time to write poetry, sculpt, cook, bake - all of which I love. We love exploring the mountains and valleys and many interesting megalithic sites in our Land Rover Discovery, which will be yours to use, if you wish.

Where is it?

In addition to the above, the unforgettable Col de Bavella nature reserve begins a mere 20 minutes from our home. You won't believe the mountain scenery - so rugged and inspiring.

If you haven't heard of Bonafacio, you are in for a treat. At the southern-most tip of the island is a town set on sheer cliffs that is one of the wonders of France. Unmissable and a 40 minute drive from here.

We have quite a few very good restaurants nearby and, in fact, good, rustic, homestyle food is a constant. Gourmet food is also available at a number of more upmarket local restaurants.

We will be happy to give you more info about our special place in the Mediterranean.
