“When we were contacted by Eric, we thought why not! We are so thankful that we did. We had the most relaxing Christmas and New Year holiday in our lives. It was so nice to 'live like the locals' rather than be insulated in a resort. We had access to Eric's car and did so many memorable trips to beaches, the city and across to Moorea. It was so nice to be able to meet the owners too, they really looked after us and made us feel like a visiting friend!”
Eric's reviewsAs a host (2)
“We spent almost a month in this gorgeous apartment over Christmas/New Year 2010/11. We could not have hoped for a more successful exchange. We met the owners in Auckland as we passed en route to the exchange - Eric and Sandrine are lovely people and we felt welcome immediately as one of their friends me us at the airport and showed us around the apartment. We slept well and were blown away when we woke up to the view of the lagoon - we pulled on our fins and snorkels first thing and snorkeled around the private marina looking at tropical fish. We spent a lot of time diving with Eleuthera Plongee dive shop in the marina next door (wonderful experience!) - we also experienced everything Tahiti had to offer - cafes on the beach, local markets, swimming in 30 degree waters, listening to beautiful island choirs on the steps of the Cathedral just prior to Christmas. We visited waterfalls and ancient Polynesian temples. We even jumped on the car ferry and went to the island of Moorea (only 30 minutes on the ferry) and spent four nights there - picture postcard views at every turn. For everyone who thinks – “oh no – Tahiti is too expensive!” – it really, really isn’t. We cooked only one night out of the month and otherwise stocked up on fresh baguettes, cheese, papaya/paw paw / pineapples and fresh hot food from the market - just two minutes walk away. Dining out is fun and cheap if you stick to the Roulottes (food caravans), Snacks (places to eat – quite often on the beach) or less expensive restaurants – for instance dining al fresco on the Papeete waterfront with steak, chips and a fresh pepper sauce is about A$18.... superb. We also had cocktails at sunset from our own balcony everyday... except for the days when we went to the public marina a 5 minute walk away and had happy hour at the pink coconut... or the dinghy bar... very laid back and great opportunity to feast our eyes on the yachts in the marina. We don’t have household help in our place... so having their lovely maid Lesline come in 2-3 times a week was a holiday in itself – clean sheets and towels, dusted, swept, rubbish out and laundry done – all by the time we returned from a dive. Coming home to Sydney was lovely – but we sure do miss being looked after. Cannot recommend this exchange highly enough. Any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
Where is it?
You have a lot of outdoor activities happening in the lagoon, a beautiful white sand beach nearby, the most reknown surfspots in the world and exotics golfcourses in the area. You can use my surfboards and golfbags if needed. You also can visit a primitive art museum, enjoy tahitian dances while eating fine food or experience Papeete nightlife. As the apartment is located 10 minutes from the airport, you can decide to go and explore Bora-Bora, Marquesas Islands or Tuamotus Islands for a few days. If you feel too lazy to cook, just walk 200m to the public marina where you will find fine restaurants and bars, passing through the most beautiful and largest yachts in the world.
