We live on the spacious third floor of a house that is one of the very few buildings that is located right in one of the largest city parks worldwide, the "English Garden". From almost every room you have views into the park trees and feel like you are in the countryside although you are right in the heart of Munich.
Almost all points of interest are within walking (!) distance, everything else can easily reached by bike or by public transportation. The next streetcar stop is located 100 m from our house, the next subway is within easy walking distance. We also can also provide city bikes.
Munich is regarded to be one of the most attractive European cities to live in. World class theatres, opera houses, symphony halls and museums offer an abundance of cultural richness and diversity. The surrounding lakes and mountains offer a fantastic panorama. Swimming in one of the lakes and having a local beer and one of the traditional bavarian dishes afterwards with view of the Alps is something you will never forget.
Some details regarding the apartment: 170 m2 (1.800 sft), completely redone in 2013 (e.g. new bathrooms, appliances, wiring etc.). In addition to this all windows facing the park were replaced with new state of the art windows in 2019.
The living room and the adjacent dining room (seats up to 8) are light and spacious. From almost every window you have terrific views into the English Garden. The kitchen is equipped with modern appliances and features a table for four or max five – ideal for breakfast. The two bathrooms feature a convenient bathtub and a large shower. The master bedroom features a kingsize bed (1,80 x 2,00 m) and again great views into the English Garden. The guest room (Bedroom 2) features a double bed (1,40 x 2,00) and a working desk. Bedroom 3 (our son's room) has a pull-out bed that sleeps 2 ( 2 x 0,90 x 2,00). Bedroom 4 (our daughter`s room) has a king-size bed (1,80 x 2,00 m)
One of our most beloved features of the flat is the roof top terrace that makes you literally sit right in the tree tops.
You can choose from a large CD or Vinyl collection to listen to on a high end sound system. With our beamer you can watch movies with AppleTV, AmazonPrime, iTunes, Netflix or Sports with DAZN ... and feel like you are in a movie theatre. The apartment has Wifi which runs at fast 100Mbit/sec.
Because of our location in the park and the tiny street to the house being a cul de sac the apartment is totally quiet. What you will hear is the water canal by the house and the birds, that's about it. Also you will see surfers walk by the house (any time of the year!) to ride one of the famous stationary waves in the canal.
Our neighbors are super nice and open-minded. If you want to mingle they will be interested to hear where you are coming from, what brought you to Munich and help you navigate your way around.
The essence in three sentences:
- Right in the city center, yet absolutely quiet
- Within a beautiful park – trees all around
- Spacious layout, modern furnishing, lots of light.

We love to travel, if possible for 2-3 months stretches at a time
Our city home is located in "Altstadt - Lehel". Altstadt means "old town". Basically this tells it all. It`s the center of Munich where most of the Munich attractions are located. Whatever you need in terms of food and household goods is close by. A great bakery, organic grocery, and pharmacy are in very close walking distance. Also there are a couple of very nice cafes and restaurants just around the corner. The famous "Eisbach" wave where surfers ride a stationary wave is about 200m as is the Museum of contemporary art "Haus der Kunst". If you turn into the other direction a few steps will take you to the famous beergarden "Chinesischer Turm". And since you are located right in the English Garden, the park will be your main route to reach almost all of the city. I
