About our home

123 square meters (about 1324 square feet) with a large balcony, terrace and garden, there is a beautiful 180 degree view over the valley, fields and trees. The kitchen and living room are upstairs, and the four rooms downstairs each have their own door to the outside terrace and garden. Two of these rooms are bedrooms, and the other two are an office and a music studio.
As well as the forest just at the end of our street, the 2,519 hectare Kings forest is only a ten minute drive away. The golf course is a 5 minute drive away, and there are many lovely nature walks in our area. Shopping for everything you might need is conveniently located just down the hill as is the train station. Cologne is only 25 km away. I have a lovely power point presentation of the sights of Cologne (Köln) that I can send you on request.

More about us

  1. I am originally from Canada, but have traveled extensively, lived in Italy, Switzerland, India and Germany. I have a degree in music and my husband (born not far from Cologne, Germany) has a degree in Physics. He is now working as a Computer Information Technologist in Cologne. I play concerts, teach music and record CDs. We would like to go to Scandinavia, or anywhere in Europe actually. As I have family and friends in Alberta, Canada, that is interesting to us as well as the west coast of North America. We are more interested in nature than big cities generally. We have already done several house exchanges so we are experienced in taking good care of other people's homes.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Located in a quiet suburban area, about 30 minutes from the Cologne Bonn airport, and 2 kilometers from 3 supermarkets and two picturesque towns, you will find everything you need. Cologne is 20 km away, a 20 minute drive, or half an hour with the train that runs every half hour directly to the center of Cologne where you can start your journey through its fascinating history starting with the Romans. (You can still see Roman ruins in many archeologically protected places as well as just part of the cityscape.) The Cathedral in Cologne is famous worldwide. If you like boats or trains, see the castles on a trip down the Rhine! There are several golf courses nearby as well as local fish ponds, herons, bullfinches, woodpeckers and many other birds.
This area is known for its thermal water and has several wonderful Therme (Spas) with saunas, whirlpools, and swimming pools - a wonderful way to relax. (Claudius Therme in Cologne and Mediterrana Therme about 15 minutes away).

A description of Cologne (Köln):
Overlooked by the gloriously Gothic Kölner Dom and packed with pretty houses, medieval gates and Romanesque churches, Cologne is a dream for history-lovers and architecture buffs.

Possibly the most famous building in Germany, the cathedral’s a must for any visit. And the top of the tower is the perfect vantage point from which to plan your next stop.

With a busy calendar of festivals and cultural events, there’s never a dull day in Cologne – from the Weiberfastnacht with its parades, masked balls and Rhenish-style partying, to the beautiful Christmas market with its twinkly lights and festive aromas of lebkuchen and glühwein.
