About our home

Beautiful five room turn-of-the-century appartment with stucco, antiques and fireplace. It is situated at an absolutely quiet green square and is in the centre of Berlin. We have wooden floors with Kelims, lots of art on the walls and high ceilings. We have a children's room with a double bed, a guest room and the masterbed room. The couch in the living-room can be turned into a bed as well. The apartment faces south-east, so it is full of light. Cleaning lady comes in once a week.
We also have a 1300m2 Garden with old apple and plum trees, a pond and two cozy studios in it.It is a fifteen minute drive from our appartment.
In good weather we could offer to share our garden with you. It is a fifteen minute ride from the apt. with roses, old fruit-trees, a pond and two well-equiped garden-houses and well over 1000 m2 in size.

More about us

  1. We are both in our late fourties. Michael is a well-known literary critic and writer of essays, Ute is an established children's book writer, illustrator and film-maker. We have three children. Antonia is 15, Bruno is 8 and Nikolai is 6. We have never tried a home exchange before, but think it's a wonderful way to get to stay in another country and have you stay here. We would be delighted to be in e-mail contact in advance to give you tips and help make your stay in Berlin as much fun and entertaining as we can, as this town really has a lot to offer.

Where is it?

The neighbourhood is cultivated upper middle class and is historically the Dichterviertel (the poets corner) of Berlin - as famous painters and poets have lived around here. Bars and restaurants, two cinemas, a big park, a lovely market with fresh produce are in short walking distance. Public transport is just three minutes away. The subway brings you to West Berlin’s centre (Ku’damm) in five minutes and in fifteen minutes to Potsdamer Platz, the philharmonic, Berlin's many museums, the Reichstag or the Brandenburg Gate.
