About our home

Our home is of typical "Berlin style" in a house of early 20th century characterized by high stucco ceiling, wooden floor and two little balconies. We have four rooms, one large "parents'" bed room and two smaller "children's" bed rooms as well as a large living room (with a sofa). The flat is completed by a kitchen, a bath room, a separated WC and two tiny storerooms. The flat is on the third floor with three rooms to the South.

More about us

My wife is a journalist from Ukraine and I'm working with Greenpeace. We have two daughters (5 and 8 years old). Since 9 years we live in this street and since 5 years in this flat. We enjoy the cultural life of Berlin - but from time to time it's good to "escape" to another reality anyway. So, we have not done a home exchange before but are keen to try.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

The street is very quite, but in the heart of Prenzlauer Berg, just 500m off Kollwitzplatz and 500m off Helmholtzplatz, two of the most lively squares in Berlin with tens of cafés, restaurants and bars. It' also very close to "Volkspark Friedrichshain", one of the biggest and most beautiful parks in Berlin and Alexanderplatz (1,5km), the "Museum island" (3km) and Brandenburg Gate (4km) are easily to reach. Prenzlauer Berg, located North East of the historical centre or "Mitte" in former Eastern Berlin had been the core of resistance against the GDR regime. After the wall came down in 1989 it has attracted a lot of students and artists - most of whom have got children now and have turned Prenzlauer Berg into the district with the highest "children density" in Europe.
