About our home

large loft in an old brownstone just a few blocks to Schlesisches Tor in the heart of Berlin-Kreuzberg 36

our home is a working illustrator's and architect's loft, comfortable, clean and full of creative books, design and things we love. we are on the third floor of a 19th century four-story brick building. it is secure and a very friendly atmosphere in the house as we know each other very well.
although the area we are living in is 24h alive the street where we live is a "Spielstrasse", a play street. therefore our flat is very quiet.

_about the flat
our loft has an open-floor plan. there is a large living room with dining area, a kitchen, and sofa area. the kitchen was just remodeled and has a dish washer. the parents bedroom is separated from the living room by a sliding door. in the bedroom is a king sized bed (200 x 200cm), there is a pull-out sofa bed for (140 x 200cm), and in the nursery is a crib (60 x 140cm). the bathroom has a tub with shower, a washing machine and a dryer, both brand new. there is an additional rest room. our court has a seating area, many plants and trees and a big sandbox.

we provide free wi-fi.

we love to place our two racing bikes, a ladies' bicycle, a christiania bike and loads of kids vehicles such as bobby car, at your disposal.

_our neighborhood
we live in the heart of the trendy area of Berlin-Kreuzberg 36 called 'Wrangelkiez'. Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg are via public transport (bus or underground) 15 mins away, Friedrichshain just a short 10mins walk over a bridge, and Treptow just a 2mins walk over another bridge. on your way to Friedrichshain you will pass the the Berlin wall with it's famous 'EastSideGallery'.

this area has become very, very popular during the last years. there are many small, excellent restaurants, some of the best clubs and great concerts, vintage stores, little fashion boutiques and cosy coffee places. a great fast food hot spot is 'Burgermeister', a burger joint in a century-old public toilet on a traffic island below the elevated u-b ahn tracks. besides little supermarkets and Turkish grocery stores, there is a bio market every friday.

we are nearly surrounded by water and green. you can rent canoes, rowboats, pedal boats or just go on a pleasure boat to the other end of Berlin. a very special place to go just over the road are the bars on floating docks and the 'bathing ship'. the 'bathing ship' is a cargo container turned public pool, with floating wooden lounge deck, open-air bar, onshore beach, sun chairs and hammocks. in summer, DJs spin minimal techno while young locals sip cocktails and soak up the sun; in winter, the whole thing is turned into a covered wellness retreat complete with two saunas, heated pool, bar, lounge and outdoor cooling platform. the nearest museum is the Jewish museum built by Libeskind. the are small, lod cinemas and modern big cinemas near by.
