About our home

Wonderful, spacious, family apartment next to KollwiczPlatz, Prenzlauer Berg.

Wonderfully sun-lit family flat, on 3.5 floor (no elevator: only down-side, and not even that bad really). The flat is very big, but feels still bigger, as the rooms are very spacious and sparsely furnished.
There are three and a half rooms -- three huge, half, reasonable -- high-ceilings throughout. Master bedroom (the half) with double bed (160/210); kids' room with two singles; living room with large, comfortable sofa; study with sleeping sofa. Small, but very functional, fully-equipped kitchen. Large bathroom with bathtub, plus separate guest toilets with sink. Lovely, most helpful neighbors. Possibility of using our bikes (two adults, two children). Lots of books and dvd's as well as kids (well, boys'...) toys, games, books, etc.

Naomi's reviews

More about us

  1. We're a family of four: David and Naomi are in their late 40s, academics (political science and philosophy, respectively) on a two-year sabbatical in Berlin. Hillel and Michael are 11.5 and 9.5 (respectively) and attend Berlin Cosmopolitan School, down in Mitte.
We've traveled extensively, and lived for longer periods of time practically all over the place (Amsterdam, Berkeley US, Oxford England, Australia) but home is Israel. We love home-exchanging and done so whenever possible in past both because we dislike hotels and because we love lingering on in one place and coming to feel "at home" there.
Having been to Thailand several times, we're hoping to be able to spend a longer period of time there -- even a month or two! -- in summer 2012. Meanwhile, we'd like to go just about anywhere during school holidays, though Europe seems more likely than the US/America. We'd be very happy to exchange also for extended weekends during school-term, so long as it's in the "area" (i.e. Germany, Denmark, etc.)

Where is it?

Our flat is on Husemann Strasse, right down the road from Kollwitzplatz, Prenzlauer Berg, so is really, literally, on the loveliest street, branching off from the loveliest square, of the loveliest neighborhood of Berlin.
It is ideally situated for exploring Berlin, as well as for just a very relaxed, laid back urban get-away... There's a lovely farmers' market on the square Thursdays and Saturdays, lots of great restaurants and small shops all around. Large, well equipped playground for younger kids on the square. Three good supermarkets within five min. walk, plus tons of other eateries all around. Easy walking distance (7min?) to Ubahn (U2: best line in town, connecting to all major touring attractions), tram (M10) and main roads (Danziger St. and Schonhauser Alle). Easy bike ride (10min.) to AlexanderPlatz, a bit longer to PotsdammerPlatz (20min.)
