very close to famous Wasserturm- and Kollwitzplatz (vivid street market with organic food and fresh veggie every Thursday and weekend). Countless pubs, restaurants, cafés, galleries, cultural projects, little shops, drugstores and supermarkets for everyday needs. Charming, international and young neighborhood famous for its vibrant day and nightlife atmosphere. Also child-friendly and safe surrounding with many playgrounds and several nice parks in the vicinity: people's park Friedrichshain with rollerblade course, Mauerpark - a popular place for the young crowd to hang around with one the largest flea market in Berlin each Sunday, people's park Ernst Thälmann with planetarium. Local public library and Goethe institute language school in close range. 10 min per bike to the state library, main municipal library and campus of the Humboldt University. Easy access to public transportation: several tram lines, metro station, next to S-Bahn (urban railway system), express bus to airport Tegel and within 20 min to the Central Station for intercity connections.

great site in English with extensive information about history and everyday life issues

My husband and I are both scholars in the humanities (Urban Studies and Cultural Studies), and we have two kids. This summer we are working as Visiting Scholars at Columbia and NYU.
We are very responsible and tidy persons, and our children behave well.
